The Genelec 8330A RAW is an active two-way studio monitor that delivers the first-class sound producers the world over have come to expect from the Finnish manufacturer. With its housing produced from raw die-cast aluminium, this model features two separate amplifiers with a total output of 100W, driving the 5" woofer and 3/4" tweeter to deliver sound pressure levels of up to 110dB SPL per stereo pair. In addition to its automatic start function, this speaker features integrated SAM technology, which allows multiple Genelec monitors to be optimised using software, a computer interface, and a measurement microphone. A balanced XLR input allows signals to be fed in without interference, while a protective circuit prevents driver damage by intercepting short-term level peaks. Magnetic shielding is also included as standard.

Impressive range of features

With a frequency range from 45Hz to 23kHz, the Genelec 8330 RAW delivers impressive low-end performance for a compact monitor. To achieve this, the speaker uses bass reflex technology, which maximises low-frequency sound pressure and extends the driver transmission range. The (deactivatable) automatic start function detects whether a signal is present and automatically switches the amplifier unit on as required. This makes the speaker easy to operate and helps save energy. Two XLR sockets serve as digital input and output for the AES/EBU format. Two RJ45 network ports are also provided to integrate the monitor into a GLM network, enabling dynamic frequency adjustments via software.

Ideal for stereo and surround setups

SAM system and GLM network

The SAM system ("Smart Active Monitor") is a technology developed by the Finnish manufacturer Genelec. It enables speakers to be adapted almost fully automatically to the acoustic characteristics of a room. This is achieved using the GLM speaker software, a Genelec measurement microphone, and the corresponding computer interface, all of which are available together as a set (article no. 357055). An integrated DSP solution within the SAM monitors ensures that acoustic issues are compensated for, and the system automatically applies the appropriate frequency adjustment, while also allowing the listening position and speaker alignment to be optimised. Up to 30 monitors and subwoofers can be connected, adapted to the room, and matched to each other, and multiple settings can also be created and recalled for different listening positions.

These are a BIG upgrade when comparing to Genelec G1 / G2 size speakers! I would recommend this size over the smaller ones any day!

The raw finish looks awesome (not quite as shiny as in many of the pictures, which I think is good)!

Sound quality is excellent, and the features with GLM are 5/5!

Also these were packaged excellently (both by Genelec & Thomann)! Very well protected during transport!

Unglaublich was hier „raus kommt“ (sogar direkt vom Handy / iPad/…) auch ohne GLM, der HAMMER!!!
Optisch - ein „Hingucker“.
100% Kaufempfehlung für Nearfield Monitoring (insbesondere wenn schon ein GLM vorhanden ist.
