Powerful bass for professional studios

The Genelec 7350 APM is a subwoofer designed to deliver powerful, transparent bass in the control room. The rear panel offers a wide range of analogue and digital connection options. In addition to XLR inputs and outputs and an AES/EBU connection, the subwoofer also features a network port, allowing comprehensive configuration for stereo and multichannel systems via the Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software. Sonically, the Genelec 7350 APM delivers clean bass reproduction down to 22Hz with very low distortion. These features combine to make the subwoofer a professional solution for modern studios, particularly in multichannel audio production.

Technology for clean bass

This subwoofer is fitted with an 8" low-frequency driver, which is housed in a specially developed Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) bass-reflex cabinet. It reproduces frequencies from 22 up to 120Hz, and is powered by a Class D amplifier delivering 150W. An electronic system protects the driver against overload and short circuits, and the amplifier against thermal issues. A maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 104dB can be achieved. Six analogue XLR inputs and outputs located at the rear of the device allow the connection of up to six speakers for a multichannel setup. A digital signal can be connected via the AES/EBU socket. Using the GLM software, subframe A or B can be selected; by default, audio signals are transmitted on both subframes.

Perfect for any room

The Genelec 7350 APM is aimed at professional studio operators who need an effective subwoofer for their audio productions. Thanks to its SAM (Smart Active Monitor) DSP system, the subwoofer can automatically calibrate itself to the room’s acoustic conditions, intelligently adjusting frequency response, level, and phase alignment for perfectly optimised sound in the control room. An optional measurement system is required for calibration, which can be carried out using either the Genelec GLM Kit or the Genelec 9320 Reference Monitor Controller. The software also allows Intelligent Signal Sensing to be enabled, reducing power consumption to just 0.5W in standby mode. Despite its weight of 18kg, the elegant cabinet design featuring two integrated support bars makes the subwoofer easy to transport.

About Genelec

Genelec was founded in 1976 by Ilpo Martikainen. It grew from a family business into one of the world's leading manufacturers of professional studio and broadcasting loudspeakers. To this day, Genelec's loudspeakers are manufactured exclusively in Finland. Genelec offers performance-oriented, neutral-sounding loudspeakers and subwoofer systems for audio professionals and sound enthusiasts, and a combination of innovative technology and design ensure that the range of products is continuously improving. The company is committed to sustainable development and environmental awareness. In 2018, Genelec was awarded the Pro Sound "Company of the Year" award. Genelec speakers are favourites of such recording industry veterans as Obie O'Brien, Michael Carnes, and David Reitzas, as well as of producers like Hardwell, Keith Ross, and Vini Vici.

Optimum placement for maximum performance

Since low-frequency vibrations significantly affect room acoustics, careful placement of the subwoofer in the control room is essential, especially for models capable of reproducing frequencies as low as 22Hz. For optimum performance, the distance between the Genelec 7350 APM driver and the front wall should be less than 0.6 metres, as this can increase both the subwoofer's acoustic output and its maximum sound pressure level. Placing a carpet underneath the subwoofer helps absorb room vibrations. Using the manufacturer's GLM software, the frequency response should be adjusted to be as linear as possible. If further improvements in the frequency response's linearity are required, it may help to shift the subwoofer slightly to the left or right.

WS
Subwoofer used for home stereo
Wandering Steven 15.11.2020
This subwoofer seems very solidly built, works and sounds well.

I am using this sub to extend the bass response of a pair of 8330 monitors, which I am using as a home stereo system in 25 sq. m room. This not only relieved the monitors of having to produce bass frequencies, which probably resulted in clearer sound with decreased distortion, but it also enabled to solve the bass problem in my room. With the fixed position of the monitors and listening position, you can move the subwoofer around the room as much as the cables allow and find optimal position for it.

The calibration is an extremelly usefull tool, expecially in the bass region, where the room response can extremelly boost some frequencies.

As a result of being able to move the sub to the optimal position and calibration now I have flat bass response from cca 23 Hz to the crossover frequency (80 Hz). I bet not even a lot of studios have such a good sound as the one I have now.

Even this smallest subwoofer and second smallest monitors play better than any non calibrateable passive system for any price could, with the sound level of course limited by their size, but I would not be able to play louder anyway because of the neighbours.

I am very happy with this "small" 7350 sub and the whole system.

Works perfect with Genelec 8300 system.

If,
You have Genelec main speaker,
Your main speaker size <= 5 inch,
You have GLM2.0 kit with you,
You are not sensitive on the price,
You are lazy to tune the speaker+subwoofer.

Then,
Go and get this one.

Entry level GLM subwoofer
VOBOSHI 17.10.2020
While the price seems excessive (it did to me, considering the two monitors and the GLM kit were only 200 GBP more), it's worth the money.

The 7350 is a beast of a subwoofer, and while it won't go as low as Genelec's top of the range, it does the job pefectly. Paired with the 8320 and using the GLM kit v3, you get impactful low end, tailored to the room, and the monitors are saved from wasting energy on the low end.
