Broad spectrum, slim footprint

The Fun Generation RTA-31 is a 31-band spectrum analyser that delivers a clear and comprehensive overview of frequencies at an affordable price, offering real-time visualisation across 31 ISO bands from 20Hz to 20kHz. Eleven green LEDs indicate the level of each frequency band, while a red LED warns of signal overload, ensuring precise and reliable monitoring at a glance. Two XLR inputs pass their bridged signal to two XLR outputs without latency, and the same functionality is available via the built-in RCA input and output connections. With a compact 1U height, a shallow 13cm installation depth, and an internal power supply connected directly through an IEC socket, this practical audio tool fits easily into any rack setup while delivering excellent value for money.

Excellent ease of use

The brightness of the level indicators on the Fun Generation RTA-31 can be continuously dimmed, allowing the analyser to be used comfortably both alongside electronic displays or in darker FOH environments without causing distraction or glare. This ensures engineers have a clear view of the levels without ever losing their focus on the DAW or mixing console. Thanks to its 32kOhm input impedance, the visualiser can also handle outputs with higher signal voltages of up to 500mV for unbalanced signals, making it flexible for a wide range of audio setups. With a sensitivity control knob for precise level adjustment and a front-panel on/off switch for quick operation and clear status indication, the RTA-31 remains a practical and user-friendly tool for everyday audio monitoring.

For studios and clubs, for touring and DJing

Thanks to its robust metal chassis, the Fun Generation RTA-31 is not only an attractive option for studio use and permanent installations, but also well suited to the daily demands of touring in the hands of FOH engineers. With its integrated rack ears, it fits easily into both stationary and flight case racks, making transport and setup straightforward. Its adjustable sensitivity greatly expands the range of possible applications, allowing even subtle signal peaks to be clearly detected when set to high sensitivity. At lower sensitivity settings, the dynamics of louder signals can be monitored with just as much reliability, ensuring consistent performance in any environment.

About Fun Generation

Since 1999, the products of Thomann's house brand Fun Generation have been an integral part of the store's range. These products, which are made by renowned companies who also manufacture products for other well-known brands, provide a convincing combination of quality and reliability at reasonable prices. The product range includes music stands and other hardware, Bluetooth speakers, LED spotlights, moving head lighting systems, and complete active PA sets as well as LED effects, microphone pickup systems, cables, and splitters. Price-conscious customers in the field of lighting and stage technology are sure to find what they are looking for in this extensive product range, which includes over 160 items.

Sound analysis for sums, signal chains and rooms

The RTA-31 analysis tool can be integrated smoothly into signal chains that require constant monitoring or placed behind a keyboardist's submixer before the combined signal is sent to the front-of-house console. It is equally useful as an analysis tool in a home or professional studio and for fine-tuning domestic hi-fi systems, offering clear visual feedback across a wide range of applications. Thanks to its ability to handle both line and microphone levels, the device can analyse mixer signals and help identify problematic frequencies in vocals and speech with ease, and when paired with a measurement microphone, the RTA-31 also becomes a valuable aid for understanding and optimising the acoustics of event venues.

Cute but not great for in depth analysis
Scottacon 16.12.2022
I bought this as a centerpiece for my production desk after having seen it in a TechMoan video - and it does exactly what I want it to do, i.e. react in a visually pleasing manner to my audio.

Some things to note:
The unit is passive and audio still passes through when turned off.

XLR in and out are linked as are RCA in and out. No summing of the two signals takes place, which might be exactly what you want. I use balanced audio from my interface and RCA from my record player so I thought this might save me a connection point -- it does not. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.

With my studio monitors at unity gain I was not able to have this unit display well at a comfortable listening level, even with sensitivity turned all the way up - I had to have my interface output quite high. This was easily solved by lowering the input gain on my monitors.

Overally this is a solidly constructed rack unit and it's lots of fun to look at, but I wouldn't use it to make any mixing decisions.

.
Ring Mics w/o guess work. Fast and just as reliable as it is on digital PA systems..
.Seb 08.01.2021
This S.A. is a major time saver. Rings my PA mics right, the first time, every time, in next to no time.

Visually ID problem frequencies and kill feedback very quickly and efficiently. No more guessing, no need for a complex/esoteric digital EQ/speaker management units riddled with firmware bugs and noisy circuitry.

I do have digital stage gear, used mostly for bigger events and recording jobs, but for smaller gigs, I love, and still use, old school rack of analog gear. This SA adds the ability to ring out mics just as easily as one does on digital gear, without the mouse and keyboard BS killing my workflow.

I whole heartedly recommend this device to everyone using an all analog setup. No more embarrassing mic ringing miscalculations and ensuing feedback disasters.

it's good for that price, sure not a pro analyzer that would cost you 5 or 6 times but it works fine
