First Acoustic Overdrive.
Grandad Beard 11.05.2020
I am an amateur musician not good enough to play for or with other people. However I have a well equipped studio and play every day. I have lots of overdrives (100+) This is the first purpose built acoustic OD I have seen and I believe it is the first made so I had to have one. I already have other pedals in this range so had a good idea of what I would be getting. The Smolder looks great. Has a good range of drive for an acoustic guitar if used with another drive ( I use a Lovepedal Brownface DL). The controls are all very usable the Pickup Compensation and Blend knobs especially useful. I love the ease of battery change and the LEDs in the Knobs. The Fender Jewel light looks and sounds a great idea but personally I find them too bright. By far the worst feature in this pedal is the clunky footswitch. In a pro rig it would be unusable (the switch not the pedal) when you switch it the sounds is like someone dropped the mic. You would have to leave it on and put it in an effects loop if you wanted to switch it on and off.
If I was a gigging musician doing acoustic rock I would love to have a pair of these in my rig they would look great with some more brown acoustic pedals.

Loud switch!
Stoned already 30.09.2024
Swapped the switch to a silent one (wasn't easy). The sound of switch was the loudest on the planet as far as I'm aware. Other than that totaly usable. Live on stage in a mix of other instruments it works.

Very impressed!!

Blown away by the sound. For acoustic performer who wants to solo over loops its simply incredible i don,t even want to use electric guitar anymore. Only con is the switch button - feels a bit too sturdy - could be a preference thing, other than that would definitely recommend.

When you need just a little extra for your acoustic sound...
DFE 02.06.2026
I'm generally a purist when it comes to my plugged-in acoustic sound: I want the natural tone of the guitar with some reverb for color, and that's usually it. I play in an acoustic cover band, though, and every now and then I need just a little more dirt for a song or two, or to elevate the high-energy parts of a song. The Fender Smolder is just awesome for this. I'm constantly impressed with how good it sounds. It doesn't just throw distortion over your acoustic guitar, it allows you to blend the mix to maintain the acoustic tone to whatever degree you prefer. If you aren't averse to effects for the acoustic guitar, I highly recommend this pedal.
