I recently bought an older American Jazz Bass at a good price. However, when I took it to a luthier, they found the neck needed extensive work—like a fret leveling, a new nut, and possibly even a truss rod replacement. The luthier suggested that getting a replacement neck would be much cheaper than fixing the original.

So, I followed their advice and replaced the neck myself. The installation was easy—just unscrew the old neck and attach the new one. The new nut already had grooves, but I had to file them larger to fit my 45-105 gauge strings.

I see no difference in workmanship between this made in Mexico neck and the original American one that came with the bass.

Beautiful neck, smooth, straight and a pleasure to play. I expected a lot but got more than that. My '70's Jazz Bass build is coming to live.
On top of that, Thomann delivery was "top notch".

Looks great, but...

Make sure that your machine heads fit, not all fender machine heads will fit and apparently my Highway 1 ones do not, it took quite a lot of filing and fitting to get the bushings in, and the holes for the machine heads do not match up which was just... great! fortunately I was able to drill new holes and make it work, maybe I'll go back and fill the excess holes with toothpicks one day.
Its a bit... glossy? I would have preferred it not to be so shiny but that's whatever, maybe some sandpaper can sort it out.

I originally bought this to replace the neck on my 1975 jazz bass but after I repaired the original neck I bought an aftermarket jazz bass body and put it on that .its now one of my favourite basses
