As with the other rings that I bought the desired effect is easily achieved, i.e. cutting out annoying overtones and some "boing!" from the drum.

One is not left with a dead sounding or choked drum because the rings are available in various widths.
1" 1.5" & 2" and a careful choice can be made.

You throw it on and it makes the sustain of the tom or snare shorter, that's it. And that is what I wanted

My nephew is new to drums... he does not like that the drum is alive... i recon that will change but until it does it is dampening rings all the way :)
