EHX Bass Big Muff Pi
PatTheCat, 20.02.2014
EHX is known for its wide variety of effects, not only for guitar but also for basses.
The Big Muff Pi provides the nice fuzzy sound most of us know and love from guitarists, but combines it with the option to boost your bass-sound without losing sound quality.

It has 3 knobs which provide a simple but effective way to shape the sound and a 3-way-switch below offers the pure fuzz sound, the fuzz sound with a bass boost or the raw bass sound.

The stomper is made of solid metal and can be powered either by a battery 9v-block or a power supply.

Overall the Big Muff Pi provides a variety of sounds but keeps your basses where they are supposed to be. Low and heavy

EHX knows how to do it.
Richard, 06.10.2009
The Bass Big Muff is a great and highly effective fuzz pedal especially for the bass player. Electro Harmonix is ??known for its rustic vintage fuzz distortions, which include the legendary Big Muff Pi - it's the Big Muff for the bass. And above all, it is exactly the sound where you can choose between heavy and gentle, and offers, among other things, subtle psychedelic tone characteristics.

The case is solid as one knows it from EHX also: Metallic, rectangular ... but green. It is equipped with the typical Knobs. Of course, it is very sturdy but still quite light.
The volume control can lift the output properly, the Tone control gives the right setting a real gentle-hissing sound with a clean lowcut. The lowest setting offers a clear, mid-range and bass-loaded ambience, which also plays very well with the sustain.
Last but not least the Sustain control - for me one of the best in the fuzz distortion history. The ending is almost endless at the highest setting and helps to produce rich and cosmic feedback, as well as the sound is extremely bite and aggressive with the right tone setting!
Lower settings on the sustain control give a very edible fuzz, for which you can play nice slappings and gentle bass solos. Let's say, if you have this muff, you can create hundreds of sound variations - where each individual creates a completely different ambience.

Particularities?
It offers a bass boost switch that allows the bass to boom with the right amplification - and it also boosts important frequencies.
Otherwise you can switch between normal and dry switch.

My conclusion:
One of my top 3 favorite pedals - and even next to multieffects.
It's so simple and versatile at the same time and brings exactly the sound I expect in the Stoner Rock genre. Therefore, I really recommend this fuzz to all bass players who want a fuzz that is original and has 100% bass fuzz!

Es un pedal de distorsión muy recomendable
Hecsw, 22.03.2013
