Too pricey for the performance

I bought this mallet as I have a Dragonfly Percussion Tranquility Inviter RBI-TIF, and it's my favorite, most used mallet for singing bowls. I thought this would perform better than a 'standard' felt wrapped wooden mallet. I was wrong.

I have 3 different sized 'cheap' wooden mallets and between them they get better results withanappropriately sized bowl. You really need the right size for rubbing, so the Dragonfly was never going to replace all 3, much to my disapointment.

By the time I had worked out the dragonfly wasnt appreciably better sounding, it had visible signs of use so I felt I could not return for money back.

The leather wand is beautifully made, feels nice to hold - but I dont find it creates a better sound or experience for rubbing. I would not buy again, but would recommend if you want a posh rubbing stick.

Ich hatte schon preiswertere Klangschalen-Schlägel & -Reiber (das ist der einzige Grund für den einen Stern Abzug bei der Gesamtbewertung). Wenn man sich aber für diese Investition entscheidet, wird nicht enttäucht sein!

Der Dragonfly liegt schwer in der Hand und ist "kopflastig". Man greift ihn an der Schaumstoffmanschette, die um den Stiel herum liegt.

Die Schaumstoffmanschette gibt einem ein sicheres Gefühl und verhindert auch bei längerem Reiben, dass der Schlägel in der Hand "herumrutscht". Der Schlägel-Kopf besteht auch viele aufeinandergepressten Lederscheiben und ist richtig fest - auch einzelne Schichten lassen sich nicht lösen oder fleddern auf. Das Leder läßt sich sehr gut über den Schalenrand führen OHNE zu "hoppeln". Die Schale fängt sehr leicht an zu schwingen und singt wunderbar. Beim "Anschlägeln" ist anfangs etwas Gefühl gefragt, damit der Ton nicht zu durchdringend wird, aber die Intensität für den "Schlag" hat man schnell raus.
Ich habe den Schlägel sowohl für Metall- als auch für Kristalschalen im Einsatz, wobei für die Glasschalen sich tatsächlich Silikonreiber besser eignen. Bei den Metallschalen ist der Dragonfly einfach nur traumhaft.
