Danmar 210DKF Bass Drum Doublepad

The pad sticks on an Evans E-Mad batter head, mounted on a DW Maple Bassdrum 22x18 with an Evans E-Mad resofell. On the pedals are Danmar UFO Skate Beater.

First the good:
The bass drum sounds deep and very fat, the pad gives the bass drum in combination with the hard Beatern a very strong penetrating attack. Overall a fat sound. The pad does exactly what it is for: The bass drum lend a crazy kick / attack.

Now the bad:
The workmanship really leaves something to be desired. Essentially, the pad consists of a rather hard plastic core / plastic plate glued to the back of the black, oval, foil on the product photo. This foil on which the beaters hit is very thin. So thin that she had already played through with the above Beaters after a rehearsal and now the plastic plate is seen in brownish hue.
The plastic plate is in turn so thick that you can glue the projecting beyond the edge of the plastic plate film as good as not wrinkle-free on the coat.

Danger:
On recordings, even the smallest touch and the slightest, possibly unwanted, re-vibrating of the Beaters on the pad trigger the distinctive attack sound. Problematic for players where the beater remains on the coat after the blow, albeit only partially or sometimes.

Since the poor workmanship so far has no effect on the functionality, I would have been pleased overall, however, a much higher quality and better adhesive version and was therefore disappointed shortly after the unpacking.
