My Golden Age Comp 2A was a very slow compressor. The sound of the compressor is outstanding but the limitation was that I wasn't able to use it on different vocals and bass except for the slow to medium tempo songs.Replacing the opto cell in it is a night and day difference literally!

My compressor is now more like a CL1B which is amazing release times are a lot faster and I didn't notice volume drop or I didn't had to max out the peak knob to get the right amount of compression like some reviwer said.

Now I use the compressor on every style and every single song for tracking vocals and bass.

Truly remarkable!
