I highly recommend this mute!
JusVe22, 25.04.2017
I use this warm up mute to practice in my apartment. It plays very well and it does not fall out of the bell of my horn. The sound is reduced enough so that my neighbours do not have to complain about the 'big sound' when I play without mute.

I also think it is useful that you can practice your intonation very well when playing with a practice mute, you are forced to listen more carefully to your sound.

The price and the quality are OK to me, I tested a few other warm up mutes and they were not as good as this one.

Very good - but ATTENTION!
Andreas901, 20.01.2010
I was recommended this practice dampener as a further development by the developer of the Yamaha Silentbrass.

This exercise dummy is better designed than many other exercise dummies. The response, intonation and sound stability is very good. This is also true for the region, which is often critical in horn dampers, lower than c '(in F). These characteristics are similar to the Yamaha Silent Brass.

The Best Brass reduces the volume very well, but does not have the aim to dampen the sound maximum. The Yamaha Silent Brass dampens considerably more. This I see rather as an advantage of the Best Brass damper.

The Best Brass allows more air and does not increase the air resistance so much. The sound sounds much more open than with Yamaha Silent Brass. This I see rather as an advantage of the Best Brass damper.

I am very critical of exercise dummies and consider them unsuitable for daily or regular use. Regular practice with a damper worsens the sound quality of the horn player, because you can not hear the open tone when practicing. To blow the horn open is quite different. One blows with dampers somewhat differently in the horn and exercises this muted kind almost as. The undamped listening experience is, however, essential in practice.

The body of the damper is made of thin-walled alluminium. The first careless "crash" on carpet floor the damper has unfortunately quit with a dent.

An exercise dummy is not a substitute for a practice room, or to the nerves of the neighbors !!! For short blowing in the hotel or Sunday morning at home is the damper but very good to use.
