First class warm-up mute

John6022, 30.12.2015
I purchased my Best Brass Warm Up trombone mute primarily for private practice and also for warming up discretely prior to rehearsals. I use it with a large bore Getzen custom 3047 Bflat/F instrument as well as a small bore Shires trombone. Equally at home in both instruments, it produces a soft, pleasant tone and stays remarkably in tune in all registers.

Excellent for use in family home or in an apartment where there may be adjacent neighbours, it is also very compact and light. It can snuggle up inside the bell in the case enabling it to be taken anywhere.

Although some might find it a little pricey, I feel it is a quality product and therefore is good value for money.
I would recommend this product for players of all abilities.

Outstanding!

Over the years, I had the opportunity to blow with different types of mufflers for different brass instruments, and the dampers of the Best Brass Warm Up series exceeded them positively in all properties, in part clearly. Out of my Best Brass Warm Up for trumpet, I knew what to expect from the Best Brass for trombone: Low weight, compact design, precise intonation and good sound reduction.
First the volume: It is, if one does not blown with all force to the fff, reduced to normal room volume, so that practice, for example, in rental housing is not a problem.
It should be emphasized, however, that due to the weight and length of the blow is hardly noticed. This is important because it does not mean an additional weight shift forward (beaker) and the trombone can be kept normal and not cramped, as with some other mufflers, where one has to hold something with the left hand and this in the long term tiring Is. In addition, the blow-in resistance is relatively low and this means almost normal playing without damper.
Two very important advantages in addition: The Best Brass does not tend to "tilt" sounds through a rather "spongy" feel; That was an annoyance with my old drummer for trombones with some tones. As a result, even technically more demanding passages (eg bonds) can be achieved without being made unnecessarily difficult by the damper. Nor does he corrupt the notes with respect to the relative pitch; In the trombone you can pull as usual, without having to correct. At the same time, you hear much more exactly what you are pulling and is surprised at how well you can intonate with the damper. Also this was with my previous overdose rather a problem and annoyance.
In a nutshell: I do not want any more damping despite the relatively high price (I guess this will go to most others who have switched to this damper, too); He is worth his money!" > Over the years, I had the opportunity to blow with different types of mufflers for different brass instruments, and the dampers of the Best Brass Warm Up series exceeded them positively in all properties, in part clearly.
