If you cut a hole in your bass drum head, use this!! It saved my head a few times already. A few years back I didn't see the use of this and I ended up with a torn bass drum head due to a kick mic falling over.
This is an easy to install solution in combination with the Bass Drum O's Cutter.

    Better safe then sorry!!

    Maybe I'm to blame?

This might be my own stupidity, but I wasn't able to get the backside ring to stick. My kick drum reso has a dampening ring. I cut the hole so that the edge of the hole is right next to the edge of the dampening ring. When I went to install this O-ring, the part that's supposed to go on the inside of the kick didn't go in place no matter how hard I tried. Because it didn't go where it should have, it remained kind of halfway installed, which in return resulted in a very noticeable buzzing or rattling sound.

Can't be sure if I just messed up or if the ring in question was faulty, but results were not great in any case. However, it seems that you can get away with just the outside ring in place. At least it hasn't fallen of in the month that I've had it.

Protects your port from ripping if there are any rough edges on your port cut. Gives a smooth edge and finishes of the look nicely.

Note: back mounting ring tends to pop off inside the shell but should not interfere with the stability of the O

You need to apply pressure with a tool not your hands! I did it first with my hands and it nearly came off after all the movement of the bass head. Just to be on the safe side the second time i applied some glue and i pushed with a screwdriver. Rock solid ever since.
