Fantastic trem
Balch, 09.01.2021
I got this tremolo as a replacement to put on my American Standard Strat from 1998. The block and saddles make such a huge difference to the tone; it's got a lot more high end and brings out more sustain. It was a straight drop on from the old tremolo. It also helps to have a trem arm that is adjustable, no more loose swinging arm! Some advice if someone is going to be doing the same; use the tremolo mounting screws that came with your guitar as they fit a lot better. You only need to use the mounting screws that come with the tremolo if you're putting them on a new build on guitar.

Overall, I very much recommend this upgrade!

Very well designed trem
FenderPete, 06.09.2020
I was looking to upgrade my less than steller 2-point stock Fender tremolo on my MIM strat. The machining quality, fit and finish and overall quality is top notch. I use my tremolo/vibrato very often, and getting it dialed in to float the way I like it was a breeze.

Pros:
- improved sustain
- vintage saddles are very well machined and finished
- everything lines up and is a fool-proof drop in
- intonation and saddle height adjustment is a breeze
- love the pop-in/screw in tremolo arm with set screw you dial in that feel.
- nice choice of black/white knobs.
- all hardware included and packaged nicely.
- made in Germany craftsmanship and quality,

Cons:
- a tad on the expensive side, but it is well worth the money
- the springs are a bit on the soft side, so I ended up using 4. But will try putting in the stock fender ones to see how those feel (I use 10-48 GHS strings).
- It's about 1 cm narrower than a stock fender tremolo system, but really that is not a con and the tremolo cavity is not seem if you have bridge decked. It's also not and issue if you use a floating bridge.

The Best Strat Trem...
Mikael Wilhelm, 05.11.2017
...or at the very least one of the top choices!

The ABM 5050 trem is quality through and through: quality design quality manufacture with quality quality control, and it's made in Germany, not China. The Chinese are getting really good at manufacturing these days, but I think the Germans still have an edge.

And so this thing just oozes attention to detail! All the little things that could possibly go wrong have been carefully dealt with here.

For instance, trem arms often have some annoying slack. But not this one! It is screwed in place AND has a friction fitting AND a small screw to tighten the fit if it ever starts to come loose. There's no slack whatsoever from the factory, and I don't foresee it becoming a problem later either.

Another small detail made just right, is the knob for the arm (comes in white + black). It is screwed in place firmly and is perfectly smooth to the touch. Many knobs of this kind have an annoying ridge around the middle, but ABM went to the trouble of making the knob feel super nice to handle, JUST BECAUSE WE'RE WORTH IT! ;-)

The last detail I want to mention, is how perfectly the trem body rolls against the posts, producing a very smooth and exact hinge action. The manufacturer says these parts are made from the same steel so one won't be harder than the other, this supposedly reduces wear.

Be that as it may, one thing is certain: All of this attention to detail results in an outstanding trem! The guitar gets a very clear tone with a fantastic sustain thanks to steel saddles and a heavy steel block, and the trem returns to pitch about as well as this kind of trem design is ever going to (provided you use locking tuners and low friction string trees and nut. Don't skimp on these things, strats are fickle enough at the best of times!).

In case you didn't figure it out already, I highly recommend this trem! My favorite guitar sounds better than ever and is noticeably louder acoustically, which I love since I practice a lot unplugged. Six stars out of five!

I didn't use the included springs though, I replaced them with softer ones from Raw Vintage:

1A Replacement
Leo F, 05.10.2018
