Sonor SCH20 Beater

With felt beaters, you often assume that after a short while of using it the felt starts to wear and gradually get smaller. Although I use this beater every day the felt is still in tact and shows no sign of wear. Now, I have a heavy right foot, and my kick drum does take a beating, but this beater is as tough as nails.
What is also great about this beater is that it reacts to a tight head as well as it does to a loose head. If you have an open sounding bass drum or even a dead sounding bass drum, this beater will work wonders.
The question I have yet to answer about this beater however is how it would perform on a double bass pedal. The size of the beater is larger than most, and depending on how close you like your beaters on your pedal, two of these beaters may touch. You would therefore have to move your positioning which may not feel comfortable.
The only downside I can think of is that it gets dirty rather quickly, and I am yet to find a way to clean it.
But a great pedal nonetheless!

Ich habe schon Mitte der 1980er Jahre diesen Schlägel an meiner Phonic Plus Fussmaschine gehabt und ihn dann irgendwann aus den Augen verloren. Durch Zufall fand ich ihn hier wieder und bestellte ihn vom Fleck weg. Durch seine konische Form berührt viel mehr Fläche des Kopfes das Fell, als bei einem zylindrischen Schlägel. Dadurch wird der Klang basslastiger, satter, wärmer. Ausserdem dankt es das Fell mit erhöhter Lebensdauer.
Trotz robuster Bauweise erlebe ich ihn nicht als schwer.
Der SCH20 wird gern Jazzern empfohlen, um kleine Basstrommeln etwas aufzupeppen. Ich benutze ihn für alle Stile bis hin zum Punkrock auf meinen 24er Basstrommeln und mag sowohl das Spielgefühl als auch seinen Sound.

Ich habe nach einer Möglichkeit gesucht, den Anschlag meiner Kickdrum etwas weicher und wärmer zu machen.
Durch die konische Form des Beaters trifft mehr Fläche auf dem Fell auf, als bei geraden oder konvex bis rund geformten Alternativen. Außerdem wirkt das Material auf mich einen Tick weicher, als bei den anderen Schlägeln. Kurzum - für mich genau das richtige und bestimmt auch für Euch, wenn Ihr Euren Bassdrum-Sound ein bisschen abrunden wollt!
