My previous experience with headphone amps was not great. I had the wired Vox ones, which were quite awfull in all the things that matter. Sound, comfort and usability.
These however are a solid 9/10, would buy again and I in fact ordered the Spark Amp 2 just yesterday, based on my good experience with the Neo headphones. The headphones would be a buy for me even if they only had the 4 different tones available, but the app opens up a whole new world. As you can save 4 different tones on the headphones, you don´t even need to open the app most of the time. Maybe 2 more save slots would be nice though.
I do have some minor gripes about them:
- I hate the "long press" functionality of turning devices on and off.
- The power button is too small on the transmitter and your finger usually blocks the led when pressing the button.
- The app has a very sad excuse for a metronome as far as features go.
- The app sometimes bombards you with stupid ads (of PG products) which you need to bypass before using it.
- The build quality is not A+. Nothing is loose or broken, but the feel could be a little bit more premium.
I do get some discomfort after extended periods of playing, but thats more likely a design issue with my Dumbo ears and not with the unit.
