Not just for journeys - but great for those too

I bought this after some research. I wanted a travel guitar that wasn't a baby one. You know where I am going with that. My normal guitar is a Parlor so it didn't need to be big, just not a compromise - and this guitar isn't. The build is excellent. I have looked and looked as I cuddled it (sorry) and there was not a single blemish or anything other than perfect. It does feel handcrafted. The sound is full for the size and the wedge shape is genius. Frets and fretboard are great for finger picking or strumming. The action, using the website advice for a card shim, is fab and it even comes with another saddle which could make it lower! I haven't used the piezo much yet but judging on the rest, it'll be fine.
The bag is awesome and I have used it for a transatlantic flight with no issues in terms of size. Tough an durable as well. My only problem is, do I go for their spruce top model next or something else......
Service and price from Thomann was, as usual, very good.

Tolle Reisegitarre

Ich habe vor über 20 Jahren begonnen, Gitarre zu spielen. Bisher auch nur Konzertgitarren. Und in den letzten Jahren habe ich aufgrund fehlender Zeit und anderer Hobbys meine Gitarren auch nur wenig in die Hand genommen. Jetzt aber habe ich wieder Lust aufs Spielen bekommen und überlegt, wie ich mich zukünftig auch besser motivieren kann.
Da kam dann die Idee einer Reisegitarre ins Spiel und die Journey Instruments bieten da ein wirklich gutes Konzept. Die OF312 sieht nicht nur sehr schön aus, sie hat auch ein recht gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Für mich war eine Stahlseitengitarre zunächst neu, aber die Ängste waren unbegründet, die Gitarre spielt sich wirklich sehr angenehm. Natürlich ist die Sattelbreite, gerade auch im Vergleich zu Konzertgitarren, relativ schmal, aber Übung macht den Meister. Der Klang ist wirklich beeindruckend. Der Mechanismus zum Auseinandernehmen der Gitarre ist tatsächlich so einfach, wie in den verschiedenen Videos dargestellt.
Das einzige, was zu Anfang etwas irritierend ist, ist die Halslastigkeit des Bodies. Das muss natürlich auch so sein, da der Hals extrem stabil sein muss. Leider ist auch die Halsplatte so klein, dass mein Stimmgerät nur schlecht angeklipst werden kann. Den eingebauten Tonabnehmer habe ich noch nicht ausprobiert.
Insgesamt kann ich die Gitarre nur empfehlen; sie eröffnet neue Horizonte...
