A lovely instrument, both aesthetically and functionally
Having used Harley Benton's entry-level ukuleles (and being very pleased), I thought to try something a bit higher-level. For almost double the price of the entry level, is the difference worth it?
I'd say it is. Aesthetically, this is a very, very beautiful instrument. The photos don't do it justice, the turtle design is very well crafted. A very tiny minus is the decision to place a "EU" sticker behind the headstock. Trying to remove it left a bit of glue. It is easy to remove with your fingernails, but it would've been better to place the designation as a non-adhesive label, together with the other cards.
Functionally, the sound is also improved compared to the entry-level model (which was fine to begin with). The sustain and tonality are fantastic – I should mention that this model ships with Aquila strings, which do make a difference.
All in all, you really can't go wrong. For a very reasonable price, you get a lot of goodness, both aesthetically and functionally.
