Very bright and punchy distortion (which is good)
This distortion has a lot of everything. The range of gain is huge - you can go from light blues crunch to a full-on screaming hard rock distortion. The unity volume is very low, meaning that there's a lot of volume on tap. The sound is very bright and punchy, which is good, because you can then turn down the tone knob without the sound getting muffled and muddy, like on many other distortion pedals. The build quality is great, this doesn't feel flimsy or cheap. All in all, a good pedal.
I, however, don't use this much, because my sound is already very bright. I play an SG through a Laney Cub12, which is pretty bright. If you play a darker-sounding guitar, (maybe a Les Paul) through a darker amp (maybe Orange for example), I would definitely recommend this pedal for you. It will give the necessary punch to enable you to cut through the mix really nicely.
