The Ernie Ball Prodigy picks are large and of the shape of an equilateral triangle with bulged sides. The picks are symmetrical so you effectively get three picks at the price of one!
I wanted to try a large triangular pick since I heard that the master sweep picker Frank Gambale uses picks of this shape.
I was indeed surprised how well suited these picks are to sweep picking. The large surface area provides good grip and the wide edges and pointy tip ensure smooth gliding across the strings.
In alternate picking, however, the large triangular shape feels rather bulky.
The picks are made from delrin, and I was expecting that the durability is not as good as in the case of, e.g., ultex picks. I can play with a single tip for 10-15 hours before I have to move on to the next tip (or to the next pick if all three tips have already been worn out).
I can warmly recommend this pick to all sweep pickers out there - give it a try and you will be surprised.
