I am music teacher and was required to buy a number of ukuleles for my lessons. The bulk of these newer ukes came from local stores as is school policy. I have four different brands in our collection ranging in price - $35-$55 each but I wanted a better product for my own use to teach with - even though this price was in some cases cheaper than the store bought.
Firstly, the delivery. I ordered on a Saturday afternoon and it arrived the following Tuesday! The ukes that I ordered from shops around where I teach took between 2 weeks and up to 8 weeks to deliver! It isn't hard to see why online shopping is favourable - and although I am a staunch supporter of physical music shops, it is becoming increasingly harder to justify the physical experience of shopping musical items.
The ukulele, for the price is simply stunning. It comes with a beautiful travel bag, which alone must be worth $30. Plus, plectrums, an instruction book and a clip-on tuner! Just amazing.
The ukulele itself is (compared to the ones I have purchased here) is a work of art. The frets don't need filing down, the wood finish is staggering - the grain looks like a mini Taylor guitar, the machine heads, perhaps best of all. The machine heads on the versions here are scratching, feel rusty and don't always hold. The ones on this Casha version feel as good and smooth as my Taylor acoustic.
The tone is miles away from the other ukes in our collections, fuller, brighter and the intonation seems to be in.
I have bought many things from Thomann over the years, but I think this is the most (pound for pound) impressive purchase I have ever made.
