Real bronze from the Far East

Zultan's most affordable cymbal series is called Aja – pronounced "Asia" – and, as the name suggests, is made in China. But unlike the machine-made B8 bronze cymbals offered in the same price range by their competitors, the Ajas are cast from high-quality B20 bronze and finished by hand. In addition to the 14" hi-hat, the Aja range includes other individual cymbals in various sizes and designs, as well as various preconfigured sets.

B20 – the standard yesterday, today, and tomorrow

In China, people have been familiar with the manual production of gongs and cymbals for centuries, so a lot of experience has gone into making the Aja series. 80 percent copper and 20 percent tin, B20 for short, is the bronze alloy that has long been known to be the magic formula for high-quality, melodious cymbals. As the Aja cymbals are finished by hand, each one is unique, which means that slight sound variations among individual cymbals of the same model are normal. The sound of the Zultan 14" Aja Hi-Hat is crisp and balanced with a sensitive response.

Zultan 14" Aja Hi-Hat, Detail

Good sound doesn't have to cost a fortune

High-quality cymbals are often unaffordable for beginners: Drummers on a budget will love the fact that Zultan Aja cymbals offer a lot of sound for not a lot of money. And it won't matter if they're playing Rock, Alternative, Grunge, Pop, or Funk – the 14" Aja Hi-Hat can be used in all of these genres and more thanks to its rich sound and precise response. This also means that this hi-hat might be exactly the thing more advanced drummers are looking for to round off their setup.

About Zultan

To provide traditional craftsmanship at a fair price has been the guiding principle of Zultan ever since it was founded in 2000. The firm’s practice of selling directly to the end customer makes it possible to offer very customer-friendly prices. Nevertheless, the production process for Zultan’s trademark cymbals, which are made mainly in Turkey, is of the highest quality, a fact which has ensured they have also been a fixture in the Thomann range since 2011. The nearly 250 Zultan products cover several cymbal series, catering for all sectors of the music market. Zultan also offers accessories such as bags and drumsticks. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials and manufacturing expertise, Zultan really does offer uncompromising quality at a reasonable price.

Save money – but in the right places

Anyone who's serious about drumming, be they a complete beginner or a seasoned pro, knows that the sound of their cymbals is just as important as all the great features – and the cool look! – of their newly acquired drums. No matter whether it's only this 14" hi-hat, or a complete Zultan Aja cymbal set for even better value for money – the investment is definitely worth it, because the cymbals sound so good that even experienced drummers will get years of playing pleasure from them. And the Aja range is so diverse that other cymbals from the hi-hat, crash, ride, china, and splash categories can be purchased later, or as needed, to meet players' changing demands.

A Delightful pair!
Zultan Convert 10.08.2017
Hi-hats are the cornerstone of any drum kit. They are the one cymbal that you can use no matter what genre of music you are playing. Finding the right pair takes some time and experimentation, but once you do, your sound will improve significantly.

After taking a look, and listening to sound files of over a dozen popular hi-hats on the Thomann website, I felt that these Zultan Aja hats offer the best performance for their price, making them perfect for nearly all drummers and all styles.

These cymbals looks good, feel good (high quality bronze - B20 I believe) and have a nice balanced weight. They sounds VERY nice. Due to the weight and the hammering these cymbals creates a nice, loud, bright and clear sound when opening / closing the hi-hat. The hi-hat can be precisely tuned and played. From the absolutely clear and staccato-like closed tone, to the extreme loud open crash-like sound everything is possible.

In conclusion: in the future I plan to buy many more Zultan cymbals, especially from the Aja range but also look forward to trying out cymbals from the dark matter, and raw series which have caught my attention. Just as soon as I get the money they will be mine, oh yes, they will be mine!

They looked a bit rough when I pulled them out of the (rather sad) plastic bag they came in. The lathing is a bit uneven and so it the hammering. But, they sound great, so who cares!

I knew Zultan was a good brand, but the sound on these hi-hats is something. I'm very happy with my purchase! For this price it might as well be one of the best options on the market.
