12-String Steel String Guitar with Pickup

The Grand Concert Builders Edition 12-string is suitable for fingerstyle and strumming. The 652ce Builders Edition 12-String features Taylor V-Class bracing, which results in higher volume, longer sustain and improved intonation; the guitar's maple back and sides lend it a powerful, transparent sound. The torrified (heat-treated) Sitka spruce top, together with the short scale, ensures excellent dynamics. The rounded contours, arm rest and bevelled cutaway allow playing comfortably up to the highest positions. The satin finish also reduces noise that can be caused by rubbing against the body. Taylor's own active ES2 dynamic piezo system with bass, treble and volume controls is used as the pickup.

P
Perfectly fits my expectations
Phil31 06.09.2020
As a fingerpicker, I enjoy playing old blues, classical pieces, but my main scope is about ragtimes, and, naturally, Scott Joplin pieces. I play with bare fingers only, without nails, and try as much as possible to respect the classical techniques guidelines.
My intention with a 12-string guitar was to change sounds, and possibly experiment some "mistuning" features.
First thing to mention : I did not meet any difficulty in tuning my guitar.
Second thing : despite my picking weaknesses, it was not too difficult to play a guitar piece, intended for 6-string, on the 12-string guitar ; it is more difficult to "catch" the strings, on a wider fingerboard, and needs some adaptation, while the bendings demand additional muscular energy, but it is manageable.
About the sound, it is really satisfactory, either acoustically, or amplified ; and playing a full chord provides real enjoyment, due to the power of the instrument.
A last point to mention is that the strings pattern is the same as on an electric 12-strings guitar : the bass strings, when stroked with the thumb, provide a main low sound, which is appropriate for a melody/bass composition.
I would recommend this guitar to anybody.
