Exceedingly versatile power amplifier
The TA 1400 MK-X stands out as an immensely dependable power amplifier from Thomann's in-house brand the t.amp, offering a solid foundation for a variety of audio setups. On its rear panel, two outputs are provided in both Speaker Twist and terminal block formats, while each channel delivers 850W into 4 ohms and 570W into 8 ohms, ensuring generous headroom for clear, distortion-free performance in rehearsal spaces, bars, or live venues. When switched to bridge mode, it can also power a single subwoofer with ease, adding depth and punch to the low end, especially for electronic music. With built-in protection circuits and an integrated limiter to prevent overload, this amplifier will function perfectly at the heart of almost any typical PA system, where it can be relied on for consistent, flexible sound.
Straightforward operation, flexible options
The TA 1400 keeps operation straightforward and intuitive, with just two volume controls for the channels, while their LEDs provide clear feedback on input levels and warn of any distortion or faults at a glance. All connections are neatly arranged on the rear panel, where lockable NL4 sockets ensure a secure link to traditional PA speakers, alongside screw terminals that allow easy connection to hi-fi speakers when needed. A wide range of line sources can be connected via the XLR and jack inputs, from compact audio interfaces to everyday playback devices. This flexibility supports anything from a classic stereo setup for live venues to entertainers performing with a mic and backing track in spaces like halls or gardens. Multiple operating modes add another subtle layer of adaptability.
Stereo, parallel or bridge mode
The TA 1400 MK-X offers three operating modes, Stereo, Parallel and Bridge, allowing it to adapt smoothly to different audio setups with minimal effort. In Stereo mode, both outputs handle a standard stereo signal for typical PA use, while Parallel mode routes the signal from Input A to both channels with independently adjustable volume, making it ideal when a single source needs different levels across two areas. In either configuration, the available power is more than sufficient to fill even larger everyday venues with sound, as long as the scenario doesn't require extreme volume levels. Bridge mode combines the full output of both channels into a single, more powerful signal delivered through the red terminals, making it possible to drive most subwoofers with as much wattage as they can take. The ground lift switch on the rear panel helps eliminate unwanted noise caused by ground loops, ensuring clean and reliable performance.
About the t.amp
the t.amp is one of the many in-house brands belonging to Musikhaus Thomann, and since 1998 has offered power amplifiers, complete passive PA sets, keyboard amplifiers, and connection systems. The brand’s entire product range delivers an impressive combination of quality and reliability at attractive prices, and users can find a convincing and affordable solution for every application: From youth clubs and sports halls through to congress centres and much more.
Reliable amplification for many PA systems
The affordable and robust TA 1400 is designed with medium-sized stereo PA applications in mind, offering a dependable solution for a wide range of setups while remaining easy to integrate. For added durability and a more permanent installation, it can be mounted in a 19" rack, where it occupies two height units with a mounting depth of 44 cm, so users should be aware of the space they have to work in, as well as taking the impressive weight of the amp's hard-working components into account. Alongside its integrated limiter, which helps prevent overload, the unit includes multiple protection circuits that guard against overheating, short circuits, DC voltage, overcurrent and infrasound, ensuring consistent and safe operation. Two rear-mounted fans provide effective cooling, while the fuse holder above the power connection allows for quick replacement if needed, bringing together a set of features that combine reliably loud performance with a quietly reassuring level of resilience.
