Die Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s Translucent Oxblood bietet alle Features, die man von einer amtlichen Les Paul erwartet: Vom Mahagoni-Hals und -Korpus mit Ahordecke zum Palisandergrifbrett mit Trapez-Einlagen und einem sehr ordentlichen Vintage 50s-Halsprofil bis hin zum bekannten Layout mit zwei Burstbucker-Pickups, regelbar mit je einem Volume- und Tone-Regler, handverdrahtet mit Orange-Drops-Kondensatoren. Was will der Les Paul-Player mehr?
Klanglich kommt die Gitarre mit einem frischen und brillanten Les Paul-Ton daher, der aber am Hals auch unter Einsatz des Tonreglers schön schmatzen kann. Was im cleanen Bereich noch glockig daherkommt, wird im Crunch schnell angriffslustig und durchsetzungsfähig.
Alles ist ordentlich und in gewohnter Qualität ausgeführt und überzeugt letztlich auch optisch, wenn die Les Paul im Lichteinfall ihre Riegelahorndecke unter der zunächst deckend vermuteten Oxblood-Lackierung zeigt.
Ein Klassiker im neuen Gewand.
