It's okay

07.04.2017
I was skeptical. Can a USB microphone for no ¤ 30 really sound usable? Finally, "normal" condenser with XLR cost at least the same and have neither preamp, nor AD converter, nor USB interface on board. But since I needed something for my 9-year-old son who wanted to take a bit of something and did not want to buy anything too valuable, I ordered it.

Unpacked, taken into the hand. Shock! Plastic! The surface! The sounds while touching! The plastic is thin-skinned and extremely resonant and hollow. When I hand over my hand, it almost sounds like you're pulling a ping-pong ball over sandpaper, or at least over a table. Light shading, abrasive. OMG, that will be what!
The ring with which the holder is attached to the microphone, is made of metal, the thread of the microphone but unfortunately plastic and flattened on two sides. Not awakening either.
However, the thread on the stator side is robust.
The USB cable is also pleasingly robust and has a tight fit in the USB port of the microphone. Positive With my Rode Podcaster the USB plug sits in the microphone so loosely, that it falls by its own weight and a nifty little movement on the cable again.

Stitching. That the Mirkofon is a USB device, the computer (Win7 / 64 Home) immediately notice. The automatic search for a suitable driver takes about 5 minutes. Afterwards it goes off immediately.
I try times with Audacity. Folds right away. The Audacity microphone control knob is set to 0.8 (80%), if you enter normally, that is enough and you have a little reserve to the control limit. At rest, the fade-out of the power indicator is -66 ...- 60 dB.
If one filters out from the recording everything under 60 Hz completely, the fidget falls to approximately -72 ...- 66 dB. That's fine, I do not have a sound room here either. The other USB Mics (Podcaster, NTUSB, MB88U, GC100) are also not better in this category, or at least not much.

The sound: No Chinahöhen, thus not overpicked, but also not dull. Good for voice recording.
Sure, an NT-USB sounds more beautiful and detailed. But the USB One sounds like a cheap "big" - and not like many cheap Lavaliers.
Foam or poppet protection is recommended. However, it is not overly prone to popping.
With the foam you have to look for something. The WS60 ordered by me did not fit - too small. I had however still at home one lying around, the correct size. I do not know where I got it and like that.

I attach the USBOne to a "one-foot" Mic desk stand with the supplied holder. If you want to take a spider, the center of gravity moves further outwards and the desk stand could tilt, but without a spider.
Again to the grip. Fortunately, the violent murmurs on the recording are much less obtrusive than one initially thought. They also do not sound so bright and hollow.

I will keep the USBOne in any case, because the recording quality for this price is absolutely in order and it does not make a bad figure.
