There is an increasing number of companies making continuous LED lights with a trend of offering increasingly smaller and smaller COB lights. Often with there own proprietary mount and range of accessories. Among them a Bowens mount adapter to make them compatible with arguably the industry standard. All too often these are made of plastic and do not inspire confidence in longevity.
So by contrast this bowens mount adapter from Aputure immediately stands out by being made of metal and feeling suitably robust. Infact the combination of being metal and the Aputure storm 80c's locking mini bowens mount effectively transform the 80c into a native bowens mount light.
Also it barely increases the size of the light, adding less than 2cm's to over length,. The height and width well not fully within the yokes dimensions it still allows for an almost full range of movement. Compared to how big and bulky most competitors solutions it really is in a different league.
The only criticism I have is one or two of the casting lines are a little, not quite sharp but crisp. Just watch your fingers when first handling - just to be safe.
Overall it does exactly what it's meant to do and I have confidence from the build quality that it's not going to break or a switch/catch snap leaving your light modifier fixed/trapped on your light.
