Nearly fabulous . . .

Nearly fabulous, because while in every other respect this guitar is top quality, the tremolo does not stay in tune. Despite the wobbly bridge and beautifully made nut some strings go flat and peculiarly some sharp! This is very disappointing; I have owned many types, never finding any one much good, thought Duesenberg might have succeeded as per their boast, alas just the same . . .
However I love that Duesenberg has made all the components - and in Art Deco style; the three-step motif is repeated on tuners, headstock and scratch plate. Also the standard of build and set up is exemplary. The fitted 10-50 strings feel good, easy bending (although the tremolo works against this). The fingerboard and frets are super. The pickup selector is a bit clunky, care has to be taken changing if recording. Tuners work very smoothly (just as well since they get a lot of use thanks to that tremolo!).
A puzzle is why this guitar model has a flat back, other Starplayers have gentle arches.
I changed the strap buttons to the Duesenberg multi sort, very secure even without strap locks, and coupled with their soft leather strap the guitar is very comfortable to play standing or sitting.
A very nice touch is the concave shape of the jack socket, which allows easy connection by feel. The guitar case is by far the best I have ever seen - Gibson and Collings included!
All in all a great guitar if you can forgive and live with the usual tremolo annoyance.

Fidèle à ce à quoi je m'attendais.
Une finition parfaite, une sonorité pleine de dynamique et de sustain, un vrai confort de jeu, du haut de gamme.

Kleine Schlampereien bei Düsenberg drücken aufs Gesamtbild

Ich habe das Ding ausgepackt und war vollauf begeistert. Wunderschön! Auch dass da Sägespäne unter den durchsichtigen Schlagbrett waren, war nicht so wichtig beim Gesamteindruck, auch wenn es ein Leichtes gewesen wäre, die mit Druckluft im Werk wegzupusten.

Der Hals-Humbucker stand raus und die Seiten setzten auf. beim nachjustieren rutschte der aber mit einem Ruck, von alleine in die richtige Position...das ging auch noch...wahren Sound kann man nicht durch solche Kleinigkeiten zerstören. Und dann kam aber doch noch etwas, was mich störte: Beim Besprühen hat man die F-Löcher nicht richtig abgedeckt und so sah man von außen das durchgesprühte auf der Innenseite des Körpers durch die F-Löcher. Die Kabel (im Inneren) für den Hals Humbucker sind auch sichtbar, das sei aber unvermeidlich, so der technische Service bei Thomann. (als kleiner Tip an Duesenberg: ich werde mir Klettband und Klebepunkte besorgen um das dann an der Innendecke zu befestigen).

Thomann hat sofort angeboten umzutauschen und mich echt fair behandelt. Dennoch sind diese Kleinen Schlampereien bei Duesenberg nervig.
Fazit: Auch wenn man den Eindruck haben kann, dass bei Duesenberg in (der Qualitätskontrolle) einer einen sehr schlechten Tag gehabt haben muss, ist der Klang meiner Meinung nach nicht klein zu kriegen. Super Sustain!
Vielleicht noch das: Bending ist definitiv nicht die Stärke bei dieser Gitarre, aber bei einer Semiakustik muss das auch nicht sein.
