This GK-Pickup is the improved version of the GK-2AH. The size of the control unit was reduced by 30%, all other improvements as follows

A GK-Pickup (GK-2AH or GK-3 for guitars, GK-2B for basses) or a GK-Ready-Guitar is required, to use Roland GK-Devices like VG-88, V-Bass, GR-33, GR-20 and GI-20

Adjustable curvature of the pickup to fit the fretboard radius of the guitar (to assure equal distance of the magnets to the strings)
Adjustable cable length between pickup stick and controll unit
Large jack socket (6.3mm) for feed in of standard pickups (short connection cable of the guitars jack socket to the socket of the controller is included)
Larger and more smooth running volume knob
New special fixture for single cut guitars
Including complete fixture set and mounting instructions

Aikalailla haasteellinen opetella käyttämään kun ei ole Suomen kielisiä ohjeita enkä ole koskaan käyttänyt tällaista laitetta. Sähköpostilla olen saanut kyllä kiitettävästi apuja, mutta asetuksien kanssa on edelleen ongelmia. Lähinnä kyse on saada oikeat säädöt Roland GR-55 laitteeseen.

Kitara mihin asennettu: Music Man Silhouette Special
Omassa kotistudiossa.
GK-3 :n tuleva midijohto ei ole hirveän luotettavan tuntuinen,vähän rimpulan oloinen.
Viikon käyttänyt niin en osaa muuta kestävyydestä vielä sanoa.
Roland GR-33:n kanssa,ihan toimiva paketti.
Aika tarkka että soittaa ns selkeästi,kaikki ylimääräinenkin kyllä kuuluu ja tekee muuten äänen sekavaksi.
Rajoituksineenkin ihan toimiva,muusta kun ei kokemusta.
Onhan se villiä kun voi kitaralla saada esim trumpetin ääniä,tai Purplen heviurut.

The pickup is very light (you will not feel any difference in weight of your guitar) and easy to install even though it does look complicated at the beginning. You will find in the package more than enough accessories to attach the pickup to almost any sort of guitar without drilling or any sort of modification. The sticky tapes are very good and once you attach the pickup it will never go anywhere unless you decide to remove it or you are not really gentle in handling a guitar.

Few things could be improved and I am surprised that the pickup has not been redesigned at least once in all these years. The radius is a bit limited. You can increase or decrease it but if you have a guitar neck that has a small radius or no radius, you might find the pickup not so suitable as it has to be positioned very close to the strings. However, you could still solve that problem by adjusting the sensitivity of all six individual pickups in the setup of your Roland synth device. Also, if you have a guitar with a space between the bridge pickup and the bridge less than 8mm, you will not be able to attach the pickup.

To use guitar synthesizers such as Roland's newer GR series or VG series this pickup is probably the only way to go and it does the job pretty well.
