I bought eight of these to replace an ageing set of much more expensive lights and, over all, find them very good. These are not an expensive item when compared to other brands offering lamps of similar spec so, to be perfectly honest, my expectations were not all that high. On first receiving them, one of the eight units did not function correctly and was returned to Thomann for repair. The faulty light was back with me within two weeks and has worked perfectly since. There were another few niggles regarding the quality of assembly, cross threaded and ill-fitting outer casing screws etc. which I was easily able to sort myself. So once these few minor problems were resolved I found myself quite unexpectedly with a really capable and impressive set of moving head wash/spot lights.
I say wash/spot lights because you could not say that it was definitely a spot light or a wash light. There is a very discernible lightsaber-like beam which cuts its way through the haze and slashes around in the way a spot light beam would, but there is also a wash from them that lights the room. I imagine some people might consider this characteristic to be a negative, think they are neither one thing or another, but I think it is fantastic, the best of both worlds. And they are bright! And fast! And the colours are vivid! In fact, despite having had these lamps for several months now and having spent many hours with them programming, I am still amazed at how effective they are when I see them in operation. And they are small too weighing less than 5kg, it really is surprising just how well they perform.
Time will tell what effect the rigors of the road will have on them and how well they will stand up to use but it is a good start. My opinion is that these are a lot of light for a small amount of money.
