Keeley 70th Anniv. HALO Andy Timmons

Miałem wysokie oczekiwania po obejrzeniu kilku recenzji na youtube i filmów, w których Andy Timmons tworzył magię przy pomocy Halo.

Halo nie zawiodło. 8 wgranych presetów daje już na wejściu szerokie spektrum dźwięków i możliwości. Dźwięk jest wspaniały, autentyczny, klarowny. Łatwo można dostosować presety do własnych potrzeb i nadpisać. Minusem jest trudne przesuwanie się pomiędzy bankami, naciśnięcie dwóch footswitchy jednocześnie nie jest proste podczas gry. Wielki plus za instrukcję zawierającą ułożenie wszystkich pokręteł dla każdego presetu - oprócz modyfikacji poszczególnych, pozamieniałem sobie miejscami. Używam głównie zmodyfikowanego Halo (mniej Level) z Dotted Eight.
Super zabawa, kiedy podłączyłem efekt to wraz z innymi efektami zatraciłem się i spędziłem kilka godzin na improwizacji, zachwycając się podróżą w świat dźwięków.

I wanted this pedal since a long time when I saw Andy presenting it. Then I saw this special edition which was a bit less expensive. I still like the original colour more though.

The pedal is fantastic. You might want to use the other presets and play with settings, but the preset n1 which is Andy signature sound deserves any praise you can imagine. If someone who knows his sound would pass by my place they would think Andy's got heavily injured and still tries to play guitar. To say you sound like him just with the limitation of lack of his genius.

The pedal delivers what it promises: Andy Timmons' Halo tone in a compact and light box. But the pedal is much more than that. It offers a bunch of studio-quality digital delay modes (including), and a very good modulation effect. The possibility of storing 4x2 presets is very handful for any live usage. High quality Keeley construction and a lot of flexibility are two important features as well. It comes with the Thomann Anniversary colors (white with blue knobs) which are less interesting than th eoriginal black.
Cons: having so many options and flexibility in a small size enclosure comes with the problem of slightly more difficult usability. If you don't use any external expression pedal, you will have to memorize some combinations to switch acoss banks, activate tap tempo, etc. Also, operating the second function for every knob requires that you keep the central knob pushed simultaneously.

Es wird wohl kaum Soundvorstellungen geben, die nicht vom Keeley "halo" bedient werden können. Ich werde in den nächsten Tagen die 2 x 4 Presets für die Delayseiten A und B als Startpunkte für eigene Experimente nutzen - wenn ich dafür die nötige Zeit und Ruhe habe - bin ja kein Profi, sondern berufstätig mit Familie. Hilfreich ist in jedem Fall die kurze deutschsprachige Gebrauchsanweisung. Die Regler "Rate", "Level" und "Depth" haben zusätzliche Regelfunktionen, die durch Drücken des FDBK Reglers aktiviert werden: Die vielfältigen Einstellmöglichkeiten erfordern m.E. nach systematisches Soundtüfteln und ein Eintauchen in die möglichen Soundwelten. Dazu braucht es die Möglichkeit und Willen etwas Zeit zu investieren..., klanglich belohnt wird dies mit Sicherheit. Aber mit den 8 Presets kann auch sofort losgelegt werden... Bisher hatte ich nur die Gelegenheit mit meinem alten Boogie MK IV und einer Marshall TV 4x12 eben diese Presets zu genießen und diese geringfügig zu variieren - ich bin absolut zufrieden, das Gerät wird bleiben. Ob ich daneben weiterhin noch mein EHX "memory man deluxe" und/oder das "carbon copy" (MXR) nutzen werde, bzw. brauche, wage ich schon jetzt zu bezweifeln. Im Netz gibt es ausreichend Videos, um sich eine gute Vorstellung von den verschiedenen Sounds (evtl. mit Kopfhörer) machen zu können. EIN wirklich gutes, erklärendes und auf den Punkt bringendes "Butter bei die Fische" Video, habe ich noch nicht entdecken können. Möglicherweise ist es dafür einfach zu vielseitig. Fazit: In meinen Ohren ein geniales Teil.
