Seymour Duncan Nazgul 6 Humbucker Bridge BLK

Dopo aver usato per diversi anni sia pickup passivi (vari DiMarzio, BKP pickups, e alcuni classici Seymour Duncan) che pickup attivi (EMG81, EMG57) sono voluto tornare in casa Duncan per provare questi nuovi Nazgul.
Il genere che suono non spazia troppo e va dal Punk Hardcore al Thrash Metal. Accordatura RE Standard (tutte corde un tono sotto). Quello che cercavo era un pickup con output alto, bassi definiti, medi belli presenti e alti non zanzarosi.

Inutile dire che con il SD Nazgul ho trovato quello che cercavo e anche di più: ha l'output di un pickup attivo conservando a lo stesso tempo un suo "carattere", qualità riconducibile a molti pickup passivi (soprattutto i Seymour Duncan) senza risultare iper compresso e "sterile".

Grazie alle sue specifiche tecniche (magnete ceramico e un avvolgimento particolare) si riescono a tirare fuori dei "palm-mute" davvero brutali, ideali per suoni high-gain.

Attenzione:
Questo pickup è stato originariamente concepito per chitarre a 7 o 8 corde con lo scopo di ottenere un'estrema definizione sulle frequenze basse per generi che vanno dal rock al metal.
Quindi vi darà il meglio se montarlo su chitarre in mogano (o legni "scuri" simili) e con accordature "drop" in RE o anche più basse.

Ho preso questo pick up più per curiosità che per necessità essendo da sempre un utilizzatore di Emg 81-85. Mi ha stupito. Un clean soddisfacente e una distorsione in DropC da far paura!! Niente fischi o rumori. Silenziosissimi se installati correttamente e alla giusta distanza dalle corde. Che dire ho trovato un valido sostituto agli Emg sia per studio che dal Live.

Attenzione da il suo meglio con accordature basse o Drop potenti. In accordatura Standard non vale la pena.

Where do I start... This pickup is great.
I used it to upgrade my HB Dynamic. I was looking for something with plenty of power that can also clean up nicely. I decided to go with the SD Nazgul as it claims to have "agressive tones for drop tuning". I don't use drop tunings, I stick to standard, but that statement made me think it would be pretty good with clarity and after watching a few demos my mind was made up.

The pickup came with a wiring diagram for a HH single cut style guitar, not much use to me with my HSH strat, but Seymour Duncan have all the wiring diagrams you will ever need on their site. From there on the installation was pretty simple.

Before I even plugged the guitar in after its surgery, I could already tell that this was gonna be a very tight sounding pickup. When I had things wired up but not yet reassembled inside the body, I tapped on the pickups with a screwdriver and listened to the sound output to make sure everything is good. I could already hear how much mids this thing packs. Not overwhelming but pretty noticable.

With my instrument finally assembled, I strummed my first chord throught this pickup and I was amazed. Its tight, its got power, its got clarity. There's also this pleasent fuzzy tone in the mids that makes distortion sounds so rich. Yet it cleans up very nicely, having some beautiful clean tones is well. This thing just sings. And don't even get me started on the pinch harmonics. They scream like they are about to get mugged.... And this thing is passive! Amazing!

If you are looking for modern tones, this pickup will please you.

Purchased these to put in my Les Paul Baritone.Ive had the standard Les Paul pick ups, Bare Knuckle pic ups but they never seemed to give me clarity.I play downtuned (A) metal and these Nazgal pickups help with string /note seperation and stop the muddines. These pickups are excellent and deliver the metal tones i want at the tunings i play.They are excellent for metal but also can give great tones for any genre.I highly recomend these.
