Fender Player Series Jazz Bass MN TPL

Confesso di aver comperato questo basso principalmente per il colore del body (tidepool) che mi piace moltissimo, specie se abbinato con il manico in acero. Detto questo, non sono rimasto deluso. Ho già nel mio arsenale un Fender JB USA costruito nel 1975. Quindi non cercavo un JB che suonasse vintage ma semplicemente volevo provare l'evoluzione moderna del JB nella versione messicana. Il basso mi è arrivato con il manico imbarcato e il truss rod completamente lasco. Quindi ho dovuto dare alcuni giri di truss rod per rendere il manico dritto. Ho poi regolato altezza corde e le ottave. Ottimo il mio giudizio sul suono dei pick up, il tipico suono JB dato da due single coil passivi, moderni, silenziosi e con un buon output (secondo me non serve l'upgrade). Molto bene anche il manico, scorrevole, piacevole al tatto, leggermente bombata la tastiera, e che permette di settare un action piuttosto bassa. Il peso è medio, si aggira intorno a 4.1/4.2 kg (corpo in ontano e manico in acero), lo strumento risulta equilibrato a tracolla. Le meccaniche sono adeguate e tengono l'accordatura, anche se non sono della qualità e della leggerezza delle meccaniche hipshot montate sul mio Lakland Skyline 44-01. CONs il ponte non high mass, il solito ponte economico Fender che non mi piace. Peccato, visto che un basso che costa più di 700 euro. Probabilmente farò un upgrade del ponte per migliorare attacco e sustain. Poi ho notato alcuni tasti che sporgono leggermente ai bordi, poca roba ma si poteva far meglio nel controllo di qualità.
Il giudizio generale è positivo, molto bene estetica, pick ups e manico, si potrebbe fare meglio per quanto riguarda il ponte e qualche attenzione in più in fase di controllo di qualità. Questo anche in confronto alla concorrenza, i bassi Sire, ad esempio, sono nella stessa fascia di prezzo e offrono di più come caratteristiche (pre amp a 4 bande, attivi/passivi) oltre ad un estetica molto Fenderiana. Con i bassi Fender sappiamo che si paga un extra per il brand e che il meglio lo si trova nel suono passivo. In sintesi, ne consiglierei l'acquisto.

Looks beuatiful, the body colour is incredibly classy, i changed the pick guard to a red tortoise shell version and all i get are compliments on how beauitful the bass looks. It also came with a lovely flame on the maple neck, a feature which may have been luck rather than an actual feature.
It played incredibly well straight out of the box, i lowered the action by around 1mm and it was perfect.
The tone is jazz bass thru and thru, Clean and punchy with a nice bit of bite thrown in. No it doesnt sound like a 60;s vintage bass but is totally useable and recognisable and for the price of the bassi am really happy!
A lot of friends told me to buy a sire bass, and maybe for the money they are better, however i wanted a genuine fender Jazz not a copy. I think this is the best value way of getting a fender jazz that looks, plays and sounds great and is the "real thing".
Its built well enough that if you wanted to upgrade the elctrics and pickups in the future it would be worth it.

I've been using various mid and high end Ibanez soundgear basses for the past 10 years, mainly due to my preference for a thin neck with narrow spacing. Despite getting my desired sound from them, I was always curious of the fender basses and their industry-standard status. Due to a lack of music gear stores here in Pakistan, I couldn't really go and try any of the Fender Jazz basses available.

After much deliberation and online research, I went on to get this Player Series Jazz Bass in tidepool. Needless to say, I have it figured as to why Fender is the global leader in electric basses. The finish is top-notch; neck is super smooth and slick; tonal options are varied and this tidepool color is an eye-candy! :)

I play in the studio and stage settings, and this bass sounds ideal for both. I've just recorded on a couple of tracks using this bass and it sounds phenomenal. Can't wait to use this on stage when the pandemic is over! 10/10 recommended!
