the t.mix MicroMix 1 USB

I got this mixer to sit on my desk and to mix the output of a couple of my devices. It does just that. The chasing is made of metal, which given the price of this thing, was a positive surprise!

The physical controls feel tight and right: not too loose, not too stiff. It is nice it provides an instrument input and a mic input with phantom power. The EQ and panning, while simple, do their jobs. This mixer doubles also as a USB audio interface. I am mainly on Linux, and I was surprised that my system recognized this thing right away and required no setup at all. Literally plug and play. However, there is quite high levels of noise with any higher gain levels, so be aware of that. Apart from the USB output, you got your L and R outputs as well. Easy to connect.

What else can I say? You get an excellent return of your investment with this device. If you play guitar and sing, this is a must have for your on-the-go setup. For me, this is a mimimalistic device that I use in my just as minimalistic home studio as a pure mixer.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I can recommend this mixer to others, who are not looking for that audiophile-level of sound quality, but for something passable for home recordings.

Using as a simple submixer to blend two synths into a stereo reverb pedal - i.e. a way to alter the pans between hard left-right, 10 o'clock/2 o'clock, both centred etc. This it does perfectly well at line level.

Clear, reasonably transparent signal - although I am running two filthy analogue synths here so I'm not after audiophile quality.

What surprised me for the low price was that the hi and lo EQ (basic cut/boost of fixed frequencies with a wide Q rather than high/low pass filtering) sound pretty good. The lo control can add body or remove mud, the hi control adds sparkle. Neither is harsh or boomy. Bonus! Slightly flimsy feeling faders is the only giveaway of the ultra-low price here.

No notable noise floor beyond my already noisy setup, although the 'GAIN' button on channel 2 seems to act as an additional white noise source when activated - possibly a mismatch with the Model D I stuck in the input? This channel handles DI guitar and bass well enough, no nasty spikes.

Haven't used the USB function or tried it with microphones yet. Although if it performs as well as the rest of the unit I'd consider using it for remote recording with a laptop.
