If these were cheap, they would be OK, but they are not cheap.
First of all, I don’t believe that the frequency response is even. The attenuation seems to me to be much greater for higher frequencies.
The build quality is pretty poor. I have to very careful removing one of the protectors because the tip has a habit of detaching and staying lodged in my ear, from where it is very hard to remove. Then one of the magnets came off and I had to reattach it. And now the other protector has completely fallen apart. I’m going to try to glue it back together, but I don’t know how long the repair will hold.
The minimum attenuation according to the specs is 7 dB, but I suspect that it is actually higher. Ideally, I would like to be able to set the protectors to their minimum setting and hear people talking reasonably clearly. While I can hear speech when they are set to minimum, it is difficult enough that I end up having to take the buds out of my ears in order to catch everything.
Another problem is that the protectors have a habit of working themselves loose, which means there are times when I am playing in loud environments where I find myself suddenly unprotected.
On the plus side, the connecting cord is quite useful because it means that I don’t have to worry about where to put the protectors when I take them out of my ears, and because they make it harder to lose them when they accidentally fall out, which sometimes happens. But I’m not sure that that is a feature worth spending €140 for.
