A vertical cab for two 12" speakers

The Harley Benton G212Plus Vertical Unloaded is an appealing option for guitarists looking for a flexible and affordable speaker cabinet – which in this vertical variant comes in a particularly practical format. Of course, the cab's compact footprint takes up less space on busy stages or in cramped rehearsal rooms. On top of that, the upper of the two speakers is also closer to ear level than with a standard cab, which means both the band and the audience can hear the music better. This unloaded cabinet comes without speakers, so it can be fitted with any two 12" speakers, allowing guitarists to customise their sound down to the last detail. Another key feature is the three-part rear panel, which means the cab can be used either open or closed – perfect for musicians who want to optimise the cab's response to suit the setting and style. The two-speaker cabs in the Harley Benton range, unloaded or not, also have a stereo switch on the control panel, allowing the speakers to output any suitable stereo source.

Decisions, decisions!

The Harley Benton G212Plus Vertical Unloaded gives users absolute freedom when it comes to the 12" speakers they choose to fit it with. Some musicians will want a full, heavy sound for Rock or Metal; others prefer a crisp, articulate tone for Funk or Jazz – selecting the right speakers is key. Of course, the G212 is also suitable as a replacement cabinet for an existing speaker setup; it couldn't be easy to install the new speakers, which can be simply inserted from the front after the speaker grille is removed. The package also includes a set of M4 screws, allowing the speakers to be mounted securely. The connection cables are soldered to the jack sockets and fitted with solder-free 1/4" speaker connectors at the other end, making for straightforward installation without the need for additional tools. The use of 16-ohm speakers is recommended to ensure optimal operation.

Compact & robust

The Harley Benton G212Plus Vertical Unloaded speaker cab is a good choice for price-conscious guitarists who are looking to personalise and configure their speaker setup. Its robust dependability, flexible customisability, and unbeatable affordability make it a reliable tool for players who don't want to leave anything to chance in their quest for the "perfect sound". In addition to its acoustic properties, of course, it's almost equally important for a guitar cab to be solidly built, so as to withstand the inevitable knocks on stage and in the van. This is a given with the G212, thanks to the metal corner guards, as well as the robust fabric covering that helps protect the substantial 18mm plywood housing, made of hardwoods chosen for their acoustic properties and durability. The two recessed metal handles mean a single person could manage the G212Plus Vertical, if needed.

About Harley Benton

Since 1998, the Harley Benton brand has been catering for the needs of countless guitarists and bassists. In addition to an extensive range of stringed instruments, Thomann's house brand also offers a wide choice of amplifiers, speakers, effect pedals, and other accessories. In total, the range includes over 1,500 products. Built by established names in the industry, all Harley Benton products combine quality and reliability at attractive and affordable prices. The continuous expansion of the range ensures that Harley Benton always provides new, exciting, and innovative products that keep players perfectly in tune with the musical world, day after day.

Plenty of power for rehearsals and Rock concerts

It's doesn't always have to be the heavy artillery: For most everyday sessions or gigs, a pair of 12" speakers in a compact cabinet is frequently enough to deliver sufficient volume and presence when used with with a top, a guitar combo, or a modeller. Besides its compact footprint, the G212Plus Vertical also offers plenty of flexibility, whether that means running it in stereo mode, loading with two different speakers, or switching between an open or closed back panel to fine-tune the sound. Generally, a closed back will enhance the bass response, while a cab with an open back will have a somewhat brighter, almost airy tone. One last thing worth knowing: This vertical cab is also available in a version pre-fitted with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, which can then deliver their famously balanced sound in a wide range of setups.

A
What a bargain!
Anonymous 13.02.2023
After taking a closer listen and look at the cab when I had more time, I needed to update my review. The cab loaded with 16 ohm V30’s is officially flawless. I went over it with a fine tooth comb, and found not one flaw. The construction is excellent, and it’s the best sounding cab I’ve had yet. The price is the unbelievable cherry on top!

Everything that you need.
Darth Jim Jam 26.11.2024
This cab is everything that I need for trying out speakers. Purchase speakers of the right Ohmage and experiment to your heart's content. No need to solder anything so it's a 5 minute job to change speakers.
It also sits a Marshall Studio Head on top perfectly.
This cab enabled me to discover that a vintage Marshall type head rocks harder with H magnet speakers than M magnet/greenbacks. And that the two together is a perfect mix. And that a Vintage30 and H are also great. And that a standard Greenback and an EVH sound different. And an 8Ohm and 16Ohm also sound different.
Stick two speakers in the cab, set it in Stereo mode, match the individual speaker impedance, not the total, and then switch the cable from one input to the other, utilising the amp standby switch, and quickly compare two speakers.
I also find that using two of these cabs is easier than having to transport a 4x12.

S
A great cabinet, but be wary...
StudioLambda 16.01.2025
Before I get into details, I'd like to mention that I already own 2 Harley Benton cabinets and I think they're great. Incredible value for money and an even better platform for building a diverse array of guitar speakers.

This cabinet is the same. Solid construction and good weight, the level of quality anyone could expect from the brand. This however, brings me to my main issue.

Since the cabinet is unloaded, the consumer is naturally expected to make the correct connections themselves. This would be fine if the provided wiring diagram made any sense whatsoever. Firstly, the diagram itself and the wires installed into the circuit are not the same colors and to make things more confusing, the placing of the supposed + and - terminals is not labeled on the circuit, nor is it matched with where the wires are placed. There is also no indicator of where each terminal is expected to go on the speaker terminals themselves.

The biggest issue of all is that Thomann is not responsible for damages caused by incorrectly wired speakers. This would be fine if the provided diagram matched with what was installed in the cabinet.

My suggestion to Thomann is to actually look at the product you ship out and make sure your installation guide matches it. If you're like me and have no understanding of circuits or wiring beyond "this goes there, that goes here", you might run into the same issue, leaving you with an unwired guitar cabinet taking up space for days until the guitar workshop team actually responds to your inquiry.

BC
Extremely solid cabinet, ideal for any speakers.
Bob Cratchet 14.06.2024
This is an extremely solid cabinet, very well built out of 19mm plywood. You can front load the speakers, but I found it better to back load them, the front grille fitted better with the speakers rear loaded. I used Celestion V 30s and there is a great tone with good base response. I have a video on Youtube of mine. Great Value ....... :-)
