Long time headphone afficinado. I swear by vintage yamaha planars.
HP1 HP2 are my favorite stuff.

I had 50+ high end headphones in the last 20 years.

This is the end for me.

Quality: wonderful. Clever clean and tight all over. The pads are super soft and leather and nice. folds up so tiny for a full size can.

Comfort is wonderful. Earcup shape is the shape of a human ear. what a wonderful idea... This so light. Despite being a planar. Usually planars are on the heavy side, but this one is so light.
Clamping force is exactly how it should be. tight enough that you can move around in it without the unpleasant sensation of it trying to fall off. But also disappears during hours of static listening sessions.

Isolation is not the best. It helps ofc to keep out ambient noises but not the best choice for public transport commuting.
Unless of course you value sound quality above everything else.

Sound is wonderful. The thick warm yet very clear detailed planar sound. That is not very hard to find but only in open headphones. This is the only one so far that sounds excellent. Not good enough for a closed back, but wonderful on its own. Instrument separation and soundstage is on par with some of the best open cans I have tried.

Treble is not overemphasized, thus creating fake detail. Its so natural. so crisp and clear without ever feeling piercing or tiresome in the slightest.

Mids are just perfect. Instruments and vocals all just roll so naturally.

Bass is interesting. I have ordered a b stock for the first round which I have sent back and ordered a brand new after. The first one was very good. Body and energy but detailed and tight. No mushiness.
The second one have the same qualities to it. Tight precise with authority when the music calls for it. However the quantity seems more then the first one. I dare to say even a basshead would be happy with it. Which I am not, but if the bass is as good as in these, i can live with a bit more of it.

Power: it needs some. Not the hardest thing to drive but not the easiest either. Dedicated amp it will benefit from. Phone at least my Asus zenfone 8 is not enough. Neither volume neither sq coming from it.
A fiio btr5 on the other hand even in the non balanced mode makes it a wonderful wireless headset :D quality is awesome, volume levels are enough. Maxed out it is sufficient for some blasting of favorite metal as well :D



In summary. I have found the best headphone ever. I know its super expensive. But if you need the best closed cans, look no further.

I have this can for a while now, burn in is complete and this is a good one. I switched about 10 years from Dynamic headphones to Planar ones and had previously a.o. a Dan Clark - then called Mr. Speakers- Alpha Prime. A good solid headphone with fantastic, yet darker, sound. I recently purchased this one, much more modern look, and what a sound. Crystal clear highs and mids, tight (but not overwhelming) bass. And no fatigue at all, I can listen for hours without congestion. Real "Aural Heaven"!

Had this little bastard for exactly a year now. Mostly used it for production and mixing (on the pro side). Once your brain gets adjusted to its slightly sub-elevated sound it has proven to be an extremely analytical pair of cans. In case you want to use it for the same purpose, please note that there is a smear on the mid low, essentially turning the mud into a smoother brown puddle. For this and the coloring I would say is more of an audiophile piece.

The carry case and fact that it collapses is by far the most useless feature on this pair. This is NOT a portable product. I mean it would be, but you need to haul around a PA system to drive these (a competent amp is definitely required). It does, however, sound great on almost anything that can feed it with "kilowattses". The sound quality, oh boy, is more than worth it.

The headband and way is fixed to the wires is a very bad design choice. It came loose on me and fell off multiple times. The wires, if you touch them, are a very long sustain musical instrument playing only G#. The paint is already rubbed off on some corners and the foam tends to turn out of place inside the cushions. But they are extremely comfortable.

Can you find open back earphones better and cheaper than this one? Sure. ... Like almost all of them at this price.

Can you find closed backs better than this? No, probably not.
