The short arm limits the angles that you can mount your monitors to the cardinal directions from the mounting post. If you need a different angle you have to mount it at the very top of the post, which isn't ideal for placement.

However, if directly left/right or in front of the post (though front would be limited by monitor depth) is fine for what you need, this stand is very stable.
