great but might be a bit too definitve

I’ve been playing bass for over 10 years. I have a MIJ Jaguar and had some old, worn-out Elixirs on it, but they sounded too dull on this bass. Then I tried flatwounds—La Bellas—but they were a bit too boomy for my taste. I was looking for something more balanced with a bit of character, so I went back to roundwounds after watching a ton of demos and ended up with these ones. They’re really nice—super fun to play. The only thing is, the high mids feel a bit too definitive for my taste. The low end is solid, and overall the strings are pretty well balanced. I’m running them through a Great River ME-1NV, though I imagine another preamp might react differently.

Match for my telecaster

Having got used to Pyramid's nickel strings on my telecaster, there is no going elsewhere. My guitar tech put in other branD's nickel strings after previous maintenance. I miss the Pyramids sorely.

I´m very happy with the companys flatwound strings, why I gave this set a try. The bottom is warm and full, the midrange clear and the treble is a bit reduced in the hights.
I play blues and blues rock and the sound is just the sound. I wanted !
I rate the strings among the top 3 of nickel roundwound strings.

Endlich der Sound den ich gesucht habe!

Im Nachhinein fragt man sich manchmal, warum man an bestimmten Dingen so lang festgehalten halt. In meinem Fall waren es pure Stahlsaiten, die ich aus Prinzip, und ohne viel darüber nachzudenken immer wieder aufgezogen habe. Da es mir jetzt auf meinem Sandberg Basic allerdings zu klingelig und spitz war mit Stahlsaiten, habe ich mich vorsichtig an verschiedene andere Saiten gewagt.
Zuerst direkt Flatwounds. Schon deutlich weniger Klingeln, der Klang war aber auf einmal zu "anders". Schwer zu beschreiben, aber so richtig sagte es mir nicht zu. Außerdem diese rutschigen Saiten, usw. usf.
Die nächsten Saiten mussten her.

Da bin ich also mal ins Lager der Nickelsaiten gewechselt, weil ich den entscheidenen Hinweis bekam, dass sie mehr nach "Vintage" klingen würden. Das klang vielversprechend!
Und das sind sie auch! Ich bin mehr als begeistert. Endlich habe ich einen echt knurrigen, aber nicht knödelnden und auch nicht klingelnden Klang. Alle Equalizer konnte ich auf neutral drehen, und es klang einfach genau so, wie ich das wollte. Die Höhen sind zwar noch da, aber dezent genug, um mich glücklich zu stellen.
Endlich hat die Höhenblende (und auch die aktive Elektronik wohlgemerkt) die Funktion, wie ich sie mir vorstelle! Nicht mehr zwischen "viel zu kreischend" und "naja es ist okaaay". Sondern jetzt zwischen "luftig", und "richtig knurrig-vintage". Endlich verstehe ich, was andere Bassisten mit ihren Soundbeschreibungen meinen :-)

Es hätte so einfach sein können, wäre ich nur früher auf diese Saiten gekommen. Volle Empfehlung!
