A sophisticated, reliable, eclectic and inspirational instrument.

If you can describe a guitar as "fascinating", then this is the one. Coming from Ibanezes and Jacksons, it was challenging at first to get used to the thicker neck and to the medium frets...but this eventually paid back for me in better technique and a more musical approach to composition.

Don't listen to those who claim that this is an instrument only for blues or classic rock: of course you can play those genres with it, AND many more! During the one year I had it, I recorded and performed metal music and rearrangements of classical pieces, and this baby never let me down.
Beautiful finish, and feeling of a solid instrument. It never goes out of tune, even if carried around in the cold inside a basic gigbag.
Sounds bright, with a robust midrange when unplugged, with tons of sustain. When plugged in, the SH-14 Custom 5 shows all its open and massive sound, complementing those acoustic features with articulation and clarity.
The P-90 is a beautiful neck pickup, creamier than a standard single coil, but more open sounding than a humbucker.

If you are looking for a to-go guitar which can be used to play jazz (Bireli Lagrene), rock (Sören Andersen), metal and everything in between, this is the right one for you.
And last but not least, yes, it can SHRED!

I feel this guitar was made by people who love guitars and wanted to create a great guitar. It's really a beautiful guitar to both play and also to actually listen to.

I'm delighted with it. The P90 is pure joy.

Nachdem ich über diese Gitarre nur Lobeshymnen gelesen habe, bin ich neugierig geworden. Hält die Gitarre, was alle Versprechen?

Die kurze Antwort: Ja!

Die lange Antwort:

Die Verarbeitung dieser Gitarre ist in diesem Preisbereich überragend!

Ganz besonders spiegelt sich dies bei der Verarbeitung der Bünde wider. Hier schnarrt nichts, jeder Ton erklingt über das gesamte Griffbrett hinweg klar und glockig und die Intonation ist ebenfalls hervorragend. Da habe ich bei renommierten Herstellen und bei Gitarren die das doppelte Kosten schon ganz andere Sachen erlebt...

Die Gitarre ist eher Vintage orientiert, lässt sich aber durch das relativ Flache Halsprofil und den Griffbrettradius von 350mm sehr leicht bespielen. Durch die saubere Verarbeitung der Bünde gehen Bendings auch bei 10er Saiten sehr leicht von der Hand.

Die Saitenlage kann sehr flach eingestellt werden (< 2mm an der dicken E-Saite am 12. Bund) ohne das es schnarrt oder die Töne an Sustain verlieren. Dieses Instrument "singt".

Die Pickup Kombination ist ungewöhnlich, aber macht durchaus Sinn. Der P90 klingt sehr warm und glockig, tendiert fast in die Richtung Humbucker vom "Feeling". Der Custom 5 am Hals ist eine schöne Alternative zum sonst üblichen Seymour Duncan JB und überzeugt durch Transparenz und Definition. Hi-Gain geht übrigens auch ganz wunderbar!

Potis, Schalter und Mechaniken laufen mit angenehmen Widerstand - hier wackelt und knirscht nichts

Fazit: Die Gitarre macht ein gutes Bild in sämtlichen Genres und wer ein Arbeitstier sucht, sollte hier zugreifen.

Homme indécis et contaminé par une changite aigue , j'ai eu grand mal(et maintenant encore plus pour ma future seconde pelle) a trouvé l'instrument qui réussirait a me filler une banane tant en la regardant, qu'en la jouant et surtout en l'écoutant.
Elle n'est ni trop typée , ni aseptisée, exception faite du métal moderne tout passe avec classe dessus.
Le P90 est dément pour les sons clair le blues et le rock.
Le custom 5 est peut être ce qui ne me plait le moins sur cette guitare(trop hargneux pour moi), tres hard rock /métal années 90.
Le manche est juste une merveille de finesse de facilité, la touche est d'une superbe qualité, et les frette medium jumbo me siéent bien plus que les grosses jumbo modernes.
Elle n'a pas le twang d'une télé ni le Graou d'une Lespaul, mais elle a sa propre identité et des sonorités pleines de charme.
C'est la première fois que je me suis dit "celle la je la garde".
