Rough first batch?
TLDR:
The amp came with a number of problems that might be related to insufficient testing prior to shipping. The sound of the amp is all right.
Issues:
1. The passive/active -switch was wired backwards
2. The gain control wasn't interacting with the clipping light. The LED was illuminating even with the gain at zero.
3. The treshold LED for the compressor was constantly illuminated, even when not playing. According to the user guide, the LED should light up only when the compression kicks in.
4. The EQ controls introduce a fair amount of hiss into the signal, especially the high mids and treble.
Conclusion:
The amp still sounds decent for the price, but it just doesn't feel very reliable. The features are great for practicing at home: the bare-bones controls invite you to just grab your instrument and play, and you can plug in a playback device and play along to the tracks you need to learn.
The price point should be a giveaway for what you're getting, but I still am left a bit disappointed with the product. The fact that they managed to release such an unfinished product just doesn't make it feel very reliable at all.
