Very nice look & sound, but opened from a seam after a month.

I bought this cello one month ago from the time of writing this review. I've been very pleased with the quality, sound and playability. The instrument looks very good and not at all cheap. It's nicely detailed. The sound is great for its price, and quite loud enough. The cello also stays in tune very well! The pegs move smoothly when tuning, and stay in their place after. I'm very happy with this.

The otherwise seemingly sturdy build seems to have had a flaw in my case. After a month of normal playing at home, with my apartment having steady and normal level of relative humidity, I noticed a sudden opening both at the back and the front of the instrument. I have not knocked the instrument around or anything. The back opened from the center glue seam, and at the front the wood seems to have cracked. This is most likely a problem with the initial moisture content of the wood during assembly or storage, since it seems the wood has shrunk to cause the cracks / openings.

So I'm currently waiting for a reply from Thomann about a repair or replacement. Very sad about this! Otherwise I have nothing at all to complain of.

Olen kokeillut Stentor Student II selloani soitonopettajani kanssa ja olen vaihtanut siihen kielet I ja II - nyt olen täysin tyytyväinen sointiin; tiedän, että sointi vielä paranee soittamisen myötä. Olen harrastanut sellonsoittoa aktiivisesti viimeiset 10 vuotta ja odotan nyt kiinnostuneena haasteita, joita uuden, oman soittimeni myötä saan.Toivon vielä löytäväni minulle sopivan pianistin säestäjäksi.

Happy cello playing

For an intermediate amateur cello player, produces a very nice sound. The bow is of good quality. The hue of the wood is darker than pictured. Came with the strings mounted onto the fine tuners and pegs. Well packaged for shipping. Only negative was that my fingers were going black from pressing on the fingerboard. Edit: Found the A string difficult to keep in tune. Would recommend.
