Seymour Duncan APS-2RW/RP Alnico II Pro

Up until now I've only ever used Fender pickups. Fender not surprisingly concentrate on reproducing the famous and much sought after sounds that they are known for. Seymour Duncan (and Di Marzio, EMG, and others) are free to go much more extreme and creative in their designs and the Twang Banger Stratocaster pickup was the first to catch my attention. I've only recently acquired a Telecaster (less than a year ago) and just love the Twang. The idea of having Twang in a Strat really appeals! If I fit a 5-way Superswitch it is possible to have the mid position giving bridge and neck together (rather than mid pickup alone), so 1-Bridge, 2-Bridge+Mid, 3-Bridge+Neck, 4-Mid+Neck, 5-Neck. That should really Twang. The only question is which pickups to use together? Personally I've chosen: Bridge-Twang Banger APST-1, Mid-APS-2RW/RP Alnico II Pro, Neck-APS-2 Alnico II Pro. If I'm right, these are the recommended set and give a very well balanced sound. The reverse wound - reverse polarity mid pickup does effectively give hum reduction in positions 2 and 4.

Der Seymour Duncan APS-2 RW/RP hat seinen neuen Platz nun an der Mittel-Position meiner Gitarre. der Einbau war sehr einfach und damit auch für einen Anfänger zu bewältigen. Die Kabel sind lang genug und auch die Verarbeitung ist solide.

Der Sound:
Der Alnico II Magnet bietet einen schönen twangigen Sound der so richtig perlt. Im Clean-Bereich lassen sich somit schöne klare Klänge erzeugen. Verzerrt bleibt die Klarheit erhalten jedoch klingt er ab und zu etwas dünn. In Kombination geschalten mit einem zweiten Alnico II zb. am Hals, entwickelt sich das volle Soundpotential.

Sehr zu empfehlen.

Monté sur une Stratocaster Standard Mexicaine SSH en position intermédiaire.
Je joue sur un ampli Marshall SL5 principalement.
Le micro sonne bien mieux que celui d'origine!
Le gain en qualité sonore est considérable: les harmoniques ressortent parfaitement, on gagne en sustain, les notes sont plus précises.
Je le recommande en accompagnement de l'APS-2 en position manche, la position intermédiaire des deux micros manche/intermédiaire donne un son très agréable.
Et bien sûr, tout ça sans dénaturer le son originel d'une Stratocaster!
Pour ce qui est de la position chevalet/intermédiaire, je n'ai pas encore changé le micro chevalet, je ne peux donc pas me prononcer même si l'Humbucker Fender et le Seymour Duncan sonnent bien ensemble.
