As good as your reeds
At first I liked this ligature a lot. It made bending easier (than a standard brass ligature) and I was able to adjust the sound by either using the metal plates against the reed (brighter sound) or flipping the leather flaps between the plates and the reed (warmer). The placement of the ligature affects sound as well (close to the cut or closer to the heel).
The problem is that most of the pressure comes to the sides of the reed. So if the reed is not totally flat, it might leak from the center. These reeds were ok with a different ligature. I don't know if this might even warp the reed a bit. Based on my experience, a ligature that spreads the pressure more evenly (like Rovner dark & light or a Silverstein for example) is more forgiving on the reed.
