Amazing amp
Jökke 17.03.2022
I bought this amp to play alt and classic rock type music with both single coil and humbucker guitars. It works well with both of them.

Clean channel is surprisingly nice and jangly. With a Strat you can get nice John Frusciante esque clean and edge of break up sounds. High gain channels lets you have fine classic rock and 80's heavy metal sounds. For modern metal tones, this amp might not be optimal. But you can add gain by adding a booster in the effects loop and this sounds great.

The tone controls are quite sensitive, so be sure to take time to tweak them to the best positions for guitar and cab. I have used this with a Marshall 2061cx cab. Really cool looking mismatch combo. Though V30 speaker might be best for this amp.

What I also love about this amp is the 20 watt power. It is just perfect for playing with acoustic drums without need for a PA and the low power mode is great for quieter jams and home playing.

I think that the lack of reverb is not a problem, maybe even a pro. There is good FX loop and digital delay pedals are more fun to play around with anyway than most amps own reverb.

I also think that the price is very reasonable for UK made amp. This really is a great amp for musical styles mentioned in the beginning.

TA
Great amp for Marshall 80s and 90s tones
Tommi A. 05.03.2021
I use this at home and sometimes with a band. at rehearsals. This is a master volume amp, so it can handle both well. The 5 watt mode works at home and 20 watt with the band.

You can get many tones from blues, classic rock, hard rock, metal out of this. Works best with humbucker pickups, for example Gibson SG with 498T and 490R pickups. With Fender stratocaster with single coil pickups, this amp sounds a bit fizzy and trebly at least with lower volumes. Effects loop works well with modular effects, delay and reverb. Overdrive and distortions pedals do not work very well with this amp but you don't need those since the amp itself can give all the gain you need even at low volumes. If you like to use OD and DIST pedals, I suggest to try Origin-series or Vintage Studio series.

Amp has 2 channels, clean and lead. Footswitch for switching between the channels is included. Channels have shared gain, output master, presence, bass, middle and treble. Lead channel has also its own additional master volume, which helps in adjusting the volume level to same between clean and lead tones. There is also a pull rhythm clip function in the gain knob. It allows to add some crunch to your clean tone which is suitable for blues rock. Rhythm clip drops your volume level significantly and you cant use it with you footswitch, only from the amp knobs.

This amp is suitable for people who like 80s and 90s heavy tones but if you are looking for all around work horse amp, this might not be your choice.
