Well worth the Black Panther title!

I was intrigued by this snare and as it matches my Mapex Saturn V natural burl kit, so I decided to get it.
This is not my first Black Panther, I have a few of them but I think that this one is a special one. The birch/walnut combination results in the nice attack of birch but still darker sounding than the typical all birch snare. It can handle most tunings very well and sounds deeper than the 5.5 inches it is. It kind of reminds me of the original Versatus snare.
A great all-rounder snare in my opinion, and superbly finished, I am glad that Mapex uses birch wood more and more. I have made it my main snare for the time being. Well worth the Black Panther title, and for the price, it seems hard to beat!

Choisie essentiellement pour son apparence, elle demeure aussi belle en vraie que sur photos. La finition bois naturel, érable en l’occurrence, rend hommage tant à la noblesse de la matière qu'au savoir faire de fabrication et contraste judicieusement avec l'accastillage noir, ou plutôt bronze foncé. Je suis fan ! bon après... les goûts, les couleurs...
Niveau fabrication, rien à redire, c'est propre, bien fini, qualitatif.
Niveau son, difficile de dire, je ne suis pas un expert. J'étais à la recherche d'une caisse peu profonde et en vue d'un accordage tendu, aigu. La peau de frappe, immédiatement remplacée par une Evans 14" EC Edge Control Snare RD offre un son bien maté, chaleureux, pas d'harmoniques hasardeuses. Le déclencheur de timbre à levier est souple et efficace et la tension se règle précisément par deux molettes, de part et d'autre.
Et enfin son prix, 300 euros pour une caisse en bois reste tout à fait contenu au vue des qualités esthétiques, de fabrication et de rendu sonore.
Comme toujours emballage et livraison Thomann impeccable : au final, la caisse se trouve protéger dans 3 cartons et, petits goodies, dans une belle poche en velours noir épais accompagnée de sa clé d'accordage.

Erstmals danke Thomann für die schnelle Lieferung.
Die Snare kam sehr gut verpackt in mehreren Kartons an. Die Snare war direkt in einer weichen Black Panther Tasche eingepackt, sehr edel.
Wie bekannt von Black Panther eine hervorragende Verarbeitung und High end Qualität.
Ich besitze mehrere hochwertige Snares,
aber diese ist mein neuer Liebling!
Preis Leistung ist unschlagbar.
Sound ist warm und knackig,ein Traum.
Ich kann dieses Instrument nur weiterempfehlen.
