The 2.0 firmware published in late 2022 fixes many problems. I immediately updated it and I have encountered a bug with mutes/empty patterns only in one use case. This is truly a marvellous sequencer. I really don't see how it is regarded so difficult. Assigning the MIDI settings took some time and help from a YouTube video but after that I have created lots of music without consulting manual or videos much. Of course the real potential cannot be fully utilized without studying the quite deep features. Connecting a MIDI keyboard (like Arturia KeyStep) is a must if you want to play something instead of only manually changing pitch settings. Quantizing works fine with the 2.0 firmware but SQ-64's arpeggiator leaves lots to be desired. I have connected the sequencer to three Korg Volcas and a Microbrute. I haven't had sync problems with the setup in which SQ-64 is the master clock provider. I haven't tested the USB or CV features. The workflow and stochastic/random settings can lead to a bit unpredictable results, if desired. I guess a SQ-64 would be a good companion with a modular setup, too. Three instrument parts and one drum channel is not very much, but often enough to create some interesting music anyway with a minimalist attitude.
