Harley Benton MP-500 Interface/Foot Control

This surpassed my expectations by far, in view of the very mixed reviews online (be they of the Meloaudio original or this HB version – I opted for this because of the long warranty and the more reliable service). Anyway, this does everything that I wished it might, and is also very easy to set up; with an iPad, actually, it doesn't seem to matter much how this is set up, since almost anything can be midi-learned in the apps you use. For myself, for now, the main use is to control Bias FX2 and the looper app Quantiloop at the same time – I have four switches for sounds and five for the looper, and surely more of them can be "doubled" if you know what you're doing. Previously, to do so I would use an iRig interface plus two separate bluetooth midi controllers that would have to be set up each time – now it's just plug in and everything works. (Good that I began to want more inputs: not to name names, you get all this for the same price as you would a competing guitar interface that only includes the two inputs...) Depending on your iPad, I bet you could control even more apps simultaneously or in turn, with the same user settings on this device; will be trying that later. As for the ready presets (and I guess you might use them your own way too, through midi-learn), I've only tried Bias FX so far, and it seemed to work fine insofar as you keep within the "User 1" bank in the app; in my own config I have to use the Bias "Live View" but that's fine and clear. The one less star for "features" is only because this doesn't come with momentary (long-press) switching, which would make it more useful with loopers, but for myself, simple clicks and double-clicks go quite far already. I hope such extra features might be included in some future firmware update, but I'm not too sure if there will be any. All in all, however, this sturdy piece provides for my humble home use more than beautifully – recommended!

This device is well built and it also has a quality audio interface in it. It's being used here with recording guitars as well as other instruments and vocals in my home studio. I'm using it with Mac, and there were no need to install any additional drivers to get it working with Logic. This is built by Meloaudio (Tone shifter Mega) to Harley Benton. Please notice, that the device comes without an adapter needed to use it with iOS devices. With never Macs, you may also prefer to buy direct usb3/tb to usb cable, so you can avoid using adapter on computer end. You cannot use tablet and computer together at the same time. iOS apps are free, but you need to buy unlocks to several features, if you plan to use it heavily.
