Expensive, but worth it

Installed them to my PRS SE 245. The original PRS pickups weren't necessarily bad, but they just never spoke to me. Something was missing. I wanted to keep the original look of the guitar, so I went with these pickups.

I am mostly surprised how well the pickups react to dynamics/soft playing compared to my EMG pickups on another guitar. These don't get snappy and compressed while playing gently.

Secondly the single coil mode is really convincing compared to your usual passive humbucker coil splits.

Hotrodded mode: this one still needs more experimenting to get a good response from it. I'm currently using it more like a volume booster. The neck pickup gets quite fuzzy with it though.

Pros:
+ sustain benefits from active pickups
+ doesn't get snappy and compressed like EMGs
+ versatility with 3 different voicings (can even get fourth with more push/pulls)

Cons:
- can be tricky to install if you are not experienced with soldering (EMG wins this one)
- comes with short shaft pots. Fits well in PRS, but you wouldn't be able to install them to Gibson/Epiphone LP.
- price. should have at least given 4 push/pull pots for the price.

40+ years of playing, tried almost everything (Gibo, SD, EMG, BN etc.) and ended so far with this one on my Les Paul. The feel and sound is perfect (dynamics, touch response, clarity) many sound options all of them very balanced and useful.

Just be careful, the installation is not the easiest and they are on the bright side like the 59' PAF should be.

Ich spiele u.a. in einer CoverBand, da ist flexibilität angesagt. Diese Pickups liefern Humbucker und Single Coil Sound absolut überzeugend.

Ich habe das Set in eine PRS SE Santana von 2012 eingebaut, ich suchte schon lange eine Möglichkeit, diese Gitarre mehr zu benutzen, da die Bespielbarkeit ein Traum ist.

Die Pickups liefern jeweils 2 Humbucker und einen Single Coil Sound, alle total überzeugend. Die Saitentrennung ist transparent, tolle Dynamik und fast keine Nebengeräusche.

Noch ein Tipp: Ich habe nach dem Einbau die Schaltung noch angepasst. Im Humbucker-Modus ist der "HF-Tilt" aktiviert, im Single Coil Modus nicht. Damit sind die Single Coil Sounds schön "klingelig", während der Humbucker, wie bei einem passiven Pickup, etwas höhengedämpfter ist. Dazu kann ganz einfach der HF-Tilt mit an den Umschalter auf Voice 3 gelötet werden (Also Pin 1: HF Tilt - PIN 2: Masse, Pin 3: Single Coil Schaltkabel)

Eine super Investition, alle die keine Angst vor Batterien haben, werden hier fündig...

Die Fluence OC kamen in eine Yamaha Image aus den 90ern, deren Pickups mir nach einem Rewiring nicht mehr gefielen.
Die Fluence klingen sehr prononciert, wie mittlerweile wohl allgemein bekannt. An gewissen Tagen nehme ich eine gewisse Kühle aktiver Pickups wahr, welches sich aber nach ein paar Momenten spielen verflüchtigt.
Die Soundvarianten finde ich nicht so unterschiedlich, wie ich es mir erhofft hatte. Ich mag den Aspekt der Single Coil Schaltung besonders, wo die Mitten nicht so überfrachtet sind. Die Humbuckerschaltungen füllen den Mittenbereich (wie gewohnt) auf. Davon abgesehen nimmt eigentlich nur der Gainfaktor zu, keine besonderen Kolorierungen kommen hinzu.
Die Löterei hat mich ganz schön gefordert, da sind schon einige Erfahrung, gute Augen und ruhige Hände erforderlich.
Meine Suche nach dem idealen Pickup ist noch nicht beendet
