Monipuolinen buusteri

Catalinbreadin Naga Viper on hyvin monipuolinen buusteri erilaisiin musiikkityyleihin, josta lähtee mukiinmenevä perinteinen treble-buusti, kokoaluebuusti tai mitä tahansa niiden välistä. Itselläni meni hetki ennen kuin sain selvän miten jokainen namiska oikeastaan ääntä muokkaa, mutta pienen pähkäilyn jälkeen kuitenkin yksinkertainen käyttää.

Itselläni tämä menee sellaisten boxien kategoriaan, jotka ovat parhaimmillaan lähes huomaamattomia, mutta kun ottaa pois niin heti kaipaa. Kunhan tietysti on ensin ruuvannut sellaiset säädöt, jotka omaa korvaa miellyttää ja uskoisin että tästä ne löytyvät.

The extra edge

Really good addition to my effect chain. It's quite subtle, so don't expect major differences to your sound. Positioned at the start of the effect chain it gives a nice character to your sound. Very good into an overdriven tube amp. A kind of early 70's sound especially with a little chorus added - quite Brian May-ish. Turning the range knob to the left gives a fuzzy full range sound while turning to the right tightens up the sound with less bass coming through. Highly recommended.

Best TB so far

I tried a bunch of TB (treble booster) pedals and so far this is the best and most versatile. The three knobs give you the possibility to adjust your sound as you wish, while most TB have only one or two knobs. Personally, I use it to emulate the sound of Brian May from Queen, combined with a VOX AC tube amp, or when I want to stay more quiet, with a Exotic AC Booster pedal... it does the job very well and it gives you a nice cutting sound. Beware, as all the TB is very noisy! I super-recommend it.

Astounding classic tone

Pros:
- user friendly
- amazing classic overdriven sound
- robust casing

Cons:
- old-fashioned circuit may buzz and hiss when engaged
- doesn’t like buffers before it, limiting options of positioning in the pedal chain.

First of all it’s a great pick for anyone who’s after original, interesting and uncommon overdriven sound. It is based on the classic treble booster used by May, Iommi, Judas Priest and many more so fabulous tones are guaranteed (provided you know how to tweak those knobs:D).

The sound it makes is absolutely stunning. My guitar (PRS McCarty) roars and screams like magic through this effect. I haven’t heard anyone I played with to have such original and distinguished sound I get thanks to Nagaviper.

It can go from classic treble booster tone to more modern tones with added mid and lower range (which may appeal to some and which is extra bonus you get with it).

Since it is an old fashioned circuit it comes with its drawbacks. In essence it buzzes and hisses when engaged, and the buzz is loud. Still this as a trade off.

Additionally, you need to crank up your amp so it crunches or is on a verge of overdrive to get the best of this pedal. It’s useless when plugged to a clean amp.

If I was to buy a treble booster again, I would go for this one, hands down.
